Incoming Transmission 📡 Funk. Disco. House. Synth-pop. Black queer joy. Cosmic belonging. Liberation. The intergalactic ancestors are coming.
This September, the Afro-Electro-Disco-Space-Punk pair The Illustrious Blacks will enter Earth’s orbit and touch down at 20 Thomas Street for a limited performance residency at The Stardust Club 💫 in The Flea for the world-premiere of ‘Beyond the Stardust.’
‘Beyond the Stardust’ is an immersive club performance and live-album experience conceived by Flea Artistic Director Niegel Smith and The Illustrious Blacks — the afrofuturist DJ duo Monstah and Black! — featuring 12 original songs and a dazzling cast of aerialists, dancers, and club-kids.

We are thrilled to announce our new Space Grant Program for mission-aligned artists. Acting as an essential downtown hub for creative development, The Flea is dedicated to providing vital infrastructure and access to our state-of-the-art Tribeca performance center.
We are offering up to one week of FREE space in our intimate Pete or Siggy Theaters. This grant prioritizes projects-in-process that would otherwise lack access to professional-grade facilities in New York City, offering space for rehearsals, workshops, readings, and early-stage development.
This opportunity is one more step forward in our commitment to support Black, brown, and queer lead artists and producers as they develop the boldest, baddest experimental work.
“Artists don’t just need ideas—they need the conditions to execute them.”
–Dr. Lauren Britt-Elmore, Executive Director
