These visions come to me like memories. The characters are familiar, the narratives are organic, but the fear is ever present.
It felt like war between my younger self and my current self. I needed to remember why I held on to these imaginations and childlike excitement to create something that feels like a fairytale. I had developed a sense of detachment as a child due to constant changes in environment and people’s obnoxious opinions on my gesticulations, my body, my voice - as a child. I missed out on reality and spent most of my childhood dreaming, yearning, hoping for a future like this one.
However, I’m older now. I can put everything into perspective. I can exit an atmosphere that reduces me and create one that nurtures me through my work. I’m eternally grateful to everyone who chose to be a part of it as collaborators. Amam, Ephraim, Andrew - I couldn’t have done this without you.
