📽️ Join us in a community journalism workshop led by Inland Empire Community News (IECN) co-founders Manny Sandoval and Denise Berver. They will be sharing how we can be ethical in the gathering and reporting of information shared online or in print. Topics include the ethics and responsibilities behind covering protests and strikes, community activism, and local news as well as sharing how to submit PRA requests, our legal rights in filming federal agents, participating in civic council meetings, recognizing AI generated content, and verifying information on social media.
Inland Empire Community News (IECN) is an independent media organization that provides local news, advertising, and media services to the Inland Empire region of Southern California. Through our publications, El Chicano, Colton Courier, and Rialto Record, IECN serves communities from across the Inland Empire. We deliver news in print and online. @iecommunitynews

Had a chance to share a few words about the impact of public art in the community along with some very talented local artists. Thank you to @thecheechcenter for the opportunity!
Cheech Marin @cheechmarin , legendary actor, arts collector, cultural icon, and recipient of the California Arts Council 50th Anniversary Awards, expresses his support for $50 million in funding for the California Arts Council.
Artists are the heartbeat of California’s vibrancy, innovation, and cultural richness, yet the state ranks just 35th nationwide in per-capita arts funding. Institutions like the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture @thecheechcenter play a vital cultural role by providing space for the continued exhibition, scholarship, and dialogue that connect Chicano and Mexican American art and expression to the cultural fabric of what characterizes California stories.
A $50 million investment will help sustain cultural landmarks like the Cheech. If we want thriving communities and to lead with diversity, we need help to increase arts funding to $50 million.

We depart here at one end of the Metro link red line. Often the beginning of the trek towards Los Angeles, the train ride is only an hour and a half journey. Here, only freight resides as passenger trains fulfill their daily routes. For some, this is an area of arrival, for others, a platform for departure. Very fortunate to call this home.
Join us for an afternoon of creative experimentation and make your own video game from scratch. w/ @gluckucr , @rio.junto , @nieblagames

I pass by this store when I am downtown in San Bernardino. It brings about a sense of place and time. Closed, reopened, closed again. Signs of change, wear, and distress expose the history of its occupancy and can be seen in this beautiful facade.
