I truly have no words. While I’m half a world away, I get the heartbreaking news from Emily that our beloved pup, Watson, passed away so suddenly and unexpectedly. He was the best friend and companion we could have asked for, and we were beyond blessed to be his people for almost 11 years. He was happiest in a lap, snuggled up next to us in bed, or nearly tearing our arms off as he tugged on our daily walks. Life will never be the same without him, but I know that we’ll see him again someday. I’ll love you forever, little bud. “Once you have had a wonderful dog, a life without one is truly diminished.”
Well good grief. This past week has been one for the books.
On Friday, @emilyreedcox and I reached the milestone of ten years (!) of marriage. Before we even got engaged, Emily told me that she wanted to adopt, and I agreed without question.
Seven and a half years ago, we took a chance and moved away from family and friends to Nashville to chase a dream.
Three (long) years ago, we officially became approved to adopt.
Finally, today, we officially adopted Canaan James Cox into our family forever.
I love you both so fiercely and will continue to do so as long as I live.
Welp, we did it. Canaan James Cox came home! Our adoption journey lasted almost 3 years, and it was worth every single second for us to meet this little dude. As amazing as he is, I’m in even more awe every single day of the amazing @emilyreedcox as we navigate parenthood. She’s the picture of patience, grace, and selflessness. What an amazing woman my son will get to grow up with as a mother. I literally couldn’t ask for more.
Today is this amazing woman’s birthday! I’m so thankful to get to walk with her through life and am reminded daily that I’m so incredibly out of my league. She is far and away the funniest, kindest, most patient human there ever was. Here’s to you, my love! Happy 29 (again), Emily!

Can’t believe that at this time seven years ago, I was about to say “I do” with my best friend and start us on the amazing journey we’ve had so far. These pictures pretty well sum most of that up. From Texas to Tennessee, New York to Switzerland, there’s nowhere I wouldn’t go with you, @emilyreedcox . Before we know it, our little family will grow by one, and I can’t wait to see what we do next. Everything good in my life is all because of you. I love you and I like you. ❤️
