Then after we will keep the party going at JJ's Bohemia for the official afterparty: Le Gato w Joel Forlines Trio @ JJ's Bohemia - with the legendary local musicians: Adam Stone Noah Prince and Joel Forlines Show starts 10pm, tix $10 @ the door!
Let's all get out and have a great night tonight!!
Update!! Gordon Inman @chattanooga_clarinetist will be joining us on stage for these upcoming shows!
Gordon is one of my closest friends and perhaps the one musician with whom I've collaborated most. I am so grateful for his enthusiasm and his support for me and for the musicians of Chattanooga in general. As Carl Cadwell said, we are excited to play with the Mayor of Chattanooga's music scene!
See y'all Friday at 7:30 at off the rails fest in Dalton!
But be sure to get there early to catch @andrewgwitherspoon 's set before ours! And to stick around for @jasonlylesmusic afterwards! It's going to be a great evening if music!
After over a year without playing a show I'm excited to announce not one but three (!) shows with The Figment!
For these next few shows I've focused not on what will make it bigger and more grand, but what will make it more musically rewarding, versatile and sustainable. And as a result of that I now find myself at the helm of a small but extremely capable and inspiring band of musicians!
This has been an extremely positive shift in my mindset about my music. By being able to meet more often and play music together in a relaxed way, we've been able to focus on the groove and the feel and to let the music breathe and exist naturally through the lens of the musicians themselves.
The three musicians whose insanely diverse set of musical abilities are making this possible are: Anthony Prince and his ability to play both bass and electric guitar equally as groovily, Carl Cadwell and his ability to play incredibly tasteful string sounds, luscious synths and jazz piano on his keyboards, and Josh Green with his ability to play a seemingly infinite number of percussion sounds on his innovative drum set of wizardry.
It's a very welcome and rewarding challenge to see how many of these sounds we can actually cover as a four piece. It's forcing me to innovate and play a lot of difficult and demanding techniques on my electric cello and with my voice, and I am really enjoying the process.
So whether or not you've seen me play my music live, these next few shows will be a great opportunity to see an important step in the evolution of it! Our first set together will be 45 minutes of music this Friday in Dalton at Off The Rails Fest opening up for @jasonlylesmusic . Then we will come back in a couple months with a full 90 minute set for WOW and Barrelhouse Ballroom. I'm so grateful for these opportunities to play music for y'all and I can't wait to see y'all soon!

A new project by nationally recognized pianist and composer Tim Hinck, singing cellist Ben Van Winkle, and percussionist Spencer West. Drawing equally from their jazz and classical backgrounds and relying heavily on Van Winkle’s expressive vocal technique, the trio has crafted a set of love songs just in time for Valentine’s Day. The music blends the high-art sophistication of atmospheric Chopin nocturnes with playful Bossa Nova ballads and timeless jazz standards.
Hinck and Van Winkle’s arrangements are as boundary-pushing as ever, yet in this project, both composers draw inspiration from the work of legendary jazz pianists like Oscar Peterson and Thelonious Monk, as well as the performances of iconic soloists such as Chet Baker, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Nat King Cole. Alongside their arrangements of classic songs, the trio will also perform original compositions, interwoven to create a moody and evocative experience.
Recording strings for a new work commissioned by @arielrivkadance . We are all giving eachother looks because @emily_violin and @benvanwinkle hit this on the first take!
Really feeling the Chrismas cheer on this lovely December afternoon in the beautiful Perkins Park in Fortwood! It was serendipitous that my friends just happened to stroll by and helped me take these photos - thanks y'all!
By the way it's not too late to hire me to provide festive music for your Christmas party! I've been working on my selection of Christmas and Jazz music where I will play the song on my cello, and then sing it too! I've been taking inspiration from some of the great jazz trumpeters like Chet Baker who would both sing and play thru songs - only I get to play on the most beautiful instrument of them all 😍 #cello #christmas #christmasmusic #nofilter #jazz #christmasmusic #jazzchristmas #christmasparty #santahat #singingcellist #chetbaker #trumpet #goldenhour #historichomes #party #music #entertainment #dinnermusic #ambiance #piano #jazzcello #eventmusic
One day I dream of playing on this stage, until then I'm happy to put on a different type of show here with the help of my friend! Thank you @xo_nicoletteee for galavanting around Denver with me to make these shots come to life! Somehow it always works out that when Im traveling, a friend of mine also from Chattanooga just happens to be there too! Nicolette has been here for a couple weeks climbing and exploring and when we found out we'd be here at the same time we knew we needed to meet up and do some acro!

Thanks to my friends for helping me remember the lyrics in real time :)
I was able to bring a cello to Bonnaroo this year which has been super fun to have at the campsite for reasons like this where I just wanna see if I can figure out how to play something I just heard.
