Makers story series.....meet @eelo.and.ider
Flick Skinner, the maker behind Eelo and Ider studied Textile design at Central St Martins, London, although her love affair with hand quilting only truly began during the pandemic and a little while later Eelo and Ider was born. Combining improvisation, play and spontaneity with classical quilt patterns to create intricate, unique and sustainable pieces for the abode using natural fibres.
Eelo and Ider’s quilts and homewares are bold, contemporary and playful, whilst bringing beauty, warmth and mindfulness into everyday spaces, aiming to usher quilted objects to be enjoyed in a new and modern way, combining art, craft, functionality and design.
All of the pieces are created in house by hand using responsibly sourced cotton, linen and upcycled items of clothing and fabric. Linen is not every quilter’s first choice, its loose weave creates a lot of movement making accuracy more challenging, despite this, it is still Flick’s fabric of choice, admiring its contrast to other fabrics, its visible weave and therefore creation, bringing an organic texture. Linen lends itself wonderfully to hand quilting, it’s not perfect and it’s visible, saluting the craftsmanship.

Based in Brighton, @elliehipkinartist creates textile artworks inspired by the shifting moods of weather, trees and landscape. Walks through the Sussex countryside — pausing to look up through the canopy and down at the wild plants beneath — provide an endless source of inspiration.
Her latest collection, When We Look Up, explores the quiet poetry of skies and trees. Beginning with abstract painted surfaces that echo changing atmospheres, she layers these with digital prints taken from her own photographs. Machine embroidery defines the silhouettes of branches, while delicate hand stitching suggests the movement of air and light passing through them. Through a combination of painting, printing, collage, appliqué and stitch, she builds richly textured surfaces with a strong sense of depth.
Each thread and brushstroke reflects the fleeting beauty of seasonal change — moments of colour, light and movement unfolding above us.
Finally, what the world’s been waiting for – spilling the tea on the Atelier Bricolage process, making glorious things from waste.
I’ve had a very productive winter so stock is piled high waiting for the spring makers’ fairs. If you can’t wait that long to get your hands on the goodies, send me a DM.

🌟 Maker Story Series – Meet Carin from Scarlett Sky Studio
We’re kicking off our series introducing the makers we’re working with this year. First up is Carin, a Brighton‑based leather worker behind Scarlett Sky Studio, creating timeless handmade bags and accessories. @scarlettskystudio
Carin’s love of making started young, inspired by her Mum sewing beautiful clothes for her and her sisters. She went on to work in fashion as a stylist, and later discovered upholstery and leatherwork, a material that quickly captured her heart.
Her journey led her to designing handbags, initially as a hobby, and eventually as a small business. She’s been a consistent presence at @themakersfair events where her bags always sell like hot cakes (especially amongst the fellow exhibitors!) We often cross paths on the Artists Open House circuit where we've spent several invigilating sessions together as guest artists. Carin is always so glamorous and serene, a quality that is beautifully reflected in her brand and the style of her pieces. 👌
Her work is all about quality, simplicity, and longevity, creating pieces that wear in, not out.
Check out her online shop at: /uk/shop/ScarlettSkyStudio
Keep an eye out for more maker stories throughout 2026! ✨
This is the bit you don’t always see.
Between the stalls — real connections, shared moments, good people, all with stories to tell.
The people we work with are pretty amazing, so we’re creating a space to celebrate this community. Welcome to
