ALL TIME weekend 🫪 !!! Impeccable vibes were had all around.. gargantuan shout out to absolutely everyone who showed us & each other love alllll weekend. 🚨 THIS SUNDAY 𓂀𓋹 Egyptian Lover 𓆣𓆃 & Dane b2b Kozue on the Riviera at Granville Island's Ocean Artworks 🏝️🌊 Egyptian Lover’s influence is so deeply embedded in the DNA of dance music that it’s easy to take for granted just how much he's shaped the culture. The 808s, the cold funk, the self-released records out of Los Angeles in the early 80s. He essentially wrote a playbook that people are still using. Hearing & seeing him play is a rare opportunity to witness a living legend up close and personal. As you're aware, Dane is as close as it gets to legend status on the West Coast of Canada, and he'll be sharing a lengthy stretch out session with one of our other dear friends and fave DJs, Kozue. Two people who each carry a distinct dance music POV, finding common ground in the booth... it's a beautiful thing! We're grateful to have all three on the Island this Sunday, May 10th. 🌪️🌪️ Tornado Wallace & Lovefingers ~ Saturday, May 9 on the Riviera at Granville’s Island’s Ocean Artworks 🏝️🌊 Tornado Wallace played our first open air party on Granville Island at the Alimentaria 2 year anniversary, summer 2023. That’s where the whole idea to activate the Island began for us, which led to our Paradise Island series in subsequent summers. Daytime, waterfront, big vibes in one of the city’s most under utilized backdrops. Tornado has been a quietly essential figure in our musical world for years and you’ll feel it in the way he handles a long afternoon like Saturday, May 9th! Joining him is our friend Lovefingers, who built ESP Institute into one of the more important small North American dance labels of the last decade (even Tornado has released on it). Wherever you come from in record culture, his sets stand out as singularly remarkable. Both of them played the hallowed basement of Paradise. Both are close friends.
