I hope everyone had a beautiful Mother’s Day and took some time to relax, reflect, and feel appreciated—because you truly deserve it. For me, the start of Mother’s Day was better this year. Although grief never fully disappears, I was surrounded by love, creativity, and meaningful connections that helped make the day a little easier. Doing these more creative projects always reminded me why I started creating in the first place. After sitting on my vision book filled with inspiring looks, concepts, and some ideas that may not make sense to everyone right now—I realized something very important after losing my mom: time is precious. Why keep waiting to do the things God has placed on your vision and heart? Every door will be a lesson and be ok with walking back out of doors to rooms you don’t fit in. Trust the process . When our time in this realm is up, we cannot take any of this with us. But what we can leave behind is love, art, memories, and the impact we made on others. Give her flowers💐Sunday the 4th was more than a Mother’s Day photoshoot… it was a room filled with love, softness, healing, and genuine connection. Watching a mother and daughter embrace this moment together reminded me how powerful that bond truly is. The love between them filled the entire room in the most beautiful way. Truthfully, I wanted to take my mind off not having my own mom physically here with me, but God has a way of wrapping love around you through people, purpose, and creation. Through this experience, I was reminded that a mother’s love never truly leaves. It lives through memories, strength, nurturing, and the love we continue to pour into others. The unedited and edited photos were honestly so hard to choose from, so I just went with the unedited because everything doesn’t always have to be “perfect” all the time. Sometimes the raw moments hold the most beauty. ✨ I started both of these beautiful ladies’ loc journeys, and seeing them here in this moment meant so much to me. Thank you both for always trusting the vision and being my models @sweetlike__sugar @_mzjina 💐 Shon, @changenfacesmua once again you exceeded my expectations. What still has me in awe is the fact that you created these ladies’ makeup looks without even knowing exactly what I had created for each of them — yet everything matched perfectly. I am still at awe of the Sinners performance last night!!! If you know …. you Know. I was already having a fit seeing Memphis Jookin dancing next to Zaouli dancer, ( Because I’m Memphis Made! But definitely go look up what the meaning of these dances are) . But when I seen @mistyonpointe Misty Copeland stepping back onto the stage out of retirement floating across that stage on her toes so effortlessly! I lost it!🥲It reminded me of this moment from last year. Before creating this piece for the @taliahwaajidbrand @naturalhairshow Taliah Waajid Natural Hair Show, @iamtaliahwaajid I spent time reading about her journey and learning about other Black ballerinas who helped shape ballet despite not always being represented. Their stories inspired this creation because as again as a child I didn’t see ballerinas who looked like me. This piece honored the Black ballerina — for the little girls who once dreamed of becoming one, and the women who made that dream visible. The piece placed 2nd in the loc art competition, but the real reward was seeing how deeply the story resonated with so many women and girls in the room. Representation matters. Again for those that don’t know this is all her hair!!!! There comes a moment when you stop dancing around an idea… and decide to fully step into it. Textured Mindset isn’t new to me. This vision has existed for a minute. I’ve explored it, circled it, sat with it… but the timing wasn’t ready. Now it is. So this time I just went for it. Created the concept. Built the hair. Told the story. Everything you see here I put together and created myself including her flower top😉except the makeup and the poses 😅 Real, unfiltered phone camera action, but you get the vibe. Because this project isn’t about perfection. It’s about expression, texture, imagination, and transformation. The cocoon stage is over. I’m ready to go all the way in. I remember being in awe watching the Inspirational @activelyblack fashion show. But what stayed with me—what left me in tears—was watching beautiful, powerful, resilient Black women walk to the voices of Malcolm X and @beyonce . In that moment, I thought about the endurance my grandmother had to carry. I thought about my mother’s story—being a child, standing in a store with my grandmother, watching her wait at the counter while white customers were allowed to go ahead of her. Even as a child, my mother was outspoken—she always stood up for what was right. She asked the people why they kept going in front of her mother. But my grandmother knew the danger of speaking up in those times. Out of protection, she made my mother be quiet. Her silence wasn’t surrender. It was survival. There was a time when silence kept us alive. And now, we speak. What was once whispered, we now have the space to say out loud. I always knew I would use this audio one day—but I didn’t know how until this Black History Month collaboration. I second-guessed myself and almost removed it. But when my model @blissfuldayz watched the @activelyblack clip… when she saw this beautiful video of herself created by @dvancleave_productions … she shared her own story of what she’s endured because of the color of her skin, because she is a woman—because strength was never optional. That’s when I knew. As we end Black History Month, this is the story I choose to continue telling. The story of the Black woman—across generations. Vision honored. Vision completed. I woke up today with my heart full. God thank you for this beautiful alignment!!!! There is so much I’ve written down in my vision book—and so much more to come. I’m really just scratching the surface. I’ve been dreaming, seeing, and writing things down for quite some time and have loved creating each project along the way. Done second-guessing myself—I’m just going and all in! As Creative Director, I want to thank the creatives who trusted this vision— even when it comes last minute, even when it’s unconventional, even when it’s rooted in something deeper than aesthetics. This look represents where we come from and where we are now. Our ancestors within us. The woman of today standing proud. Thank you to my model, @blissfuldayz a Black woman embodying strength, beauty, voluptuous curves and legacy—carrying the past forward with grace and presence. The world rests in her hands because it was shaped through her birth and endurance. The Black woman stands as the foundation. From her body came nations. From her labor came survival, culture, and legacy. She carried life when history tried to erase it. She nurtured futures before they had names. What was born through her was not only a people, but a nation forged through memory and resilience. I am not separate from my ancestors — I am their continuation. Their prayers answered. Their strength still breathing through me. The world she carries is built from memory, survival, and love. Not conquest. Not control. But responsibility passed from generation to generation. This is an homage. A thank you. A sacred acknowledgment that I stand because they endured. Still we rise. And I am so proud to be a Black woman. Show her love. My Beautiful Client was diagnosed at 33 with stage 2 double negative breast cancer. She went through surgery and chemo. She stood tall with family by her side but always wondered if the cancer would show back up again. 10 years later by the grace of God she continues to be in remission. She kicked cancer butt! lol! And then….God blessed her with beautiful twin girls!!!!🥹🥲❤️🙌🙏🏾 God is Amazing!!! She is such a beautiful spirit. She has been my client for 5 years and this was such an honor to put together! I styled her locs and created breast cancer ribbons made out of hair . I did some pink loc ribbons. But I intentionally made the white loc ribbons with embellishments . White represents purity, new beginnings, peace, and cleanliness 10 years later😉🤗❤️. I also chose her outfits but @holly_hustle created and showed out with this sweatshirt!
