In case you are new here, bringing this back to let you know @activelyblack has BEEN about uplifting and re-investing back into the Black community and is the sole purpose for our existence. So as you explore divesting from spending your dollars with these corporations who don’t care anything about our people, we welcome you to be part of the Tribe and buy @activelyblack Because when you buy from @activelyblack , you are literally pouring back into the Black community. The Black Community has TRILLIONS in buying power and the data shows that we spend 60 BILLION ANNUALLY on apparel and shoes alone. For reference, Nike, the largest brand in the world, makes $48-50 Billion a year in revenue. So what do you think would happen if and when @activelyblack is a Multi-Billion Dollar entity that is built to specifically uplift and re-invest in the Black community? Shout out to @activelyblack team member @lamont_tory for breaking down how we consistently give back to our community. #ActivelyBlack #BuyBlackOwned

Just a reminder that we are really about what we say we are about. So while we collectively boycott those corporations who have reneged… (Yall know Black people don’t like that ♠️) We welcome our community to embrace and support Black owned brands that truly are uplifting and giving back to the Black community. We also ask for your GRACE and understanding alongside that support. Black owned brands like ourselves, do not have the same resources and budgets that the giant corporations have. Because we don’t have the same volume, it actually costs us more to manufacture and produce the same quality products that Nike, Lululemon, Adidas etc have. We also are donating proceeds back into the Black community and hiring Black talent while simultaneously trying to scale and grow our business and build infrastructure. That is the reason Black companies often have to charge what we charge for our products. Black Founders receive LESS THAN 0.02% of all Venture Capital Investments. Nike received MILLIONS in Bank loans when they were starting. Gymshark and Vuori both received investments of $300 MILLION to be able to grow and scale. Often, the only way Black brands are able to grow is to charge enough to be profitable and depend on our audience and our people to continue to buy from us to generate the cashflow that is needed to scale. This isn’t about bragging of our good deeds. We believe in transparency and showing the receipts of our purpose and mission so that you can feel confident in patronizing our business. Knowing that we are authentically representing our people without compromise and giving back to our communities. Thank you Tribe. None of this is possible without you. ✊🏿🖤🧬 #ActivelyBlack

The @activelyblack x @officialmrtendernism Collab almost never happened. I received a random call one night from a man who claimed to have the trademark for “TENDERNISM” and I initially thought he was trying to take advantage of Walt. We won’t share what I said, but let’s just say I wasn’t too happy about someone trying to do business with @activelyblack while taking advantage of this Black Man. Luckily Ken Harris called me back and explained that he was a lawyer who grabbed the trademark for TENDERNISM so that he could transfer the ownership to Walt before anybody else could get it. This is just part of the story that we talk about in an interview with Ken Harris, Walt Johnson and a very special surprise guest that showed Unc’s soft spot. Comment TENDERNISM for the link to the full interview. Collection releases 5.16 at activelyblack.com #Tendernism #ActivelyBlack

On this day in 1981, we lost the legendary Bob Marley. A Revolutionary and a Legend who used his talents, his voice and his life to speak for those without a voice and to bring love to the world. Thank you to the @bobmarley family for allowing @activelyblack to honor his life and legacy. ✊🏿💚💛❤️ #BobMarley #OneLove

Cecil Williams is mostly known for his famous picture drinking out of a whites only water fountain during Jim Crow. But Cecil’s defiance against the racist laws started long before that image was taken in 1958. Check out this clip of Cecil sharing the story of his childhood act of rebellion when Black kids could not play on certain playgrounds. It’s safe to say that Cecil aint ever been scared. And given the direction this country is headed in by rolling back Voting Rights and Civil Rights, the @activelyblack Tribe is letting it be known that we aint scared either. #ActivelyBlack #CecilWilliams #NeverScared

I want you to understand who is in this picture. From Left to Right @ilyasahshabazz the daughter of Malcolm X @fredrikanewton the wife of Huey P. Newton and her grandson @officialchairmanfredhamptonjr the son of Chairman Fred Hampton The fact that they are all wearing @activelyblack is something I still can’t fully grasp. More importantly, they carry the legacy of the Heroes and Revolutionaries of our people. They are living proof that no matter what this country has tried to do to erase our people, we have ALWAYS had Revolutionaries that fought back. You can murder a Revolutionary, but you can’t murder a Revolution. It is our generation’s turn to fight. If you thought ACTIVELY BLACK was a clothing brand, you thought wrong. “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” ‭‭Esther‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬ ‭ #ActivelyBlack #NoTimeToBePassive
