Honored to be part of this year’s Oscars performance of “I Lied To You” from Sinners. Sharing the stage with such incredible artists was a powerful reminder of how deeply music and movement are connected.
I had the privilege of wearing the Firebird costume from Dance Theatre of Harlem, designed by Geoffrey Holder, carrying that history with me onto the stage. Grateful to be part of a moment that celebrates the spirit of this film and the depth of Black musical storytelling.
A few months ago, I stepped off the stage after my final bow with @abtofficial , closing one chapter and unknowingly preparing for the next. Not too long after that, I had hip replacement surgery. Since then, I’ve been focused on healing — physically, mentally, and patiently. These were my first few days: learning to walk again, resting, and letting my body do the work. Recovery isn’t glamorous, but every small step matters. 🩰💪
Last night was a moment I’ll carry with me forever. After 25 years with American Ballet Theatre, I took my final bow surrounded by the company and community that have shaped my life and career. I’m deeply honored to continue my connection to ABT as a member of the Board of Trustees—supporting the next generation of dancers and storytellers who will lead this art form forward. And possibly most special of all, this was the first time my son, Jackson, saw me dance on stage.
Costume Art ✨ Honored to be part of this year’s Met Gala host committee and to walk the carpet in Michael Kors.
Nights like this celebrate creativity and artistry at the highest level, but they also remind me how important it is to keep expanding who gets to be part of these spaces.
Representation matters on stage, in the audience, and everywhere in between.
Dance was the first place I felt seen and through the @mistycopelandfdn , we’re creating that same sense of belonging for kids across New York. With @dropbox powering the organization behind the scenes, our vision came to life for our very first Spring Benefit.
