Hearing from people how this record has impacted them is one of the most fulfilling parts of my career to date. For me, it was a success just to finish it and share it.
This record was made with so much love and intention. I saw Arima grow so much as we made this, and I found myself changing in ways I didn’t expect.
When Arima and I make music, it’s something special. We’re trying to touch people’s hearts, and we are trying to feel something, to connect with something deeper, and we don’t stop until the music isn’t asking for anything else. It’s an offering of sorts.
This record almost took us out, I don’t know if I’ve ever worked so hard on something in my life!!
Arima, I love you! I’m so proud of you. You are a force. Congratulations.

Man, 7 years ago I was up at midnight waiting to listen to the new Keem album. Even when this dropped I was just excited to listen again as a fan.
I saw Keem put in insane amounts of dedication and effort to make this album over the past few years. I’m sincerely grateful to be a part of his story. and with such a great crew of people. This album is something else.

Some years ago I was on SoundCloud and I heard this demo of his, had like 200 views. I knew he was different. I used to FaceTime him while he was working at guitar center eating sleep for dinner. I didn’t know he’d go on to be someone who could break through every ceiling placed above him.
June 2023,
Omar knows when im in LA I’m scatterbrained and everywhere at once. So he invited me out to London, Just us, no distractions.
He was going through it, I was going through it.
my health was in a really rough spot. I was plugged up to IV’s most days during that time.
One day, I’m walking along golbourne road, west London, our start time was 1. Omars texting me asking where I am, I’m notoriously late to everything…im Working on that.
That day for some reason I just needed some time. I found this little Moroccan street (mom is Moroccan ❤️)
I walk into a shop and start talking to a lovely older woman. I bought this huge box of dates to bring to the studio. I’m thinking fuck Omar is definitely pissed at me for being so late. Whatever I made a choice, I enjoyed the walk.
I walk in and Omar is playing this piano line, he started an idea while he was waiting for me. It gave me goosebumps…That piano line ended up being the start to glow and we recorded it that day.
After that we were off and running, the themes and motifs of the album kept growing from there, we watered those plants even when we felt we had nothing left to give.
So many days of not knowing how we were going to be able to finish it, and somehow through a lot of time and attention and care, God Said No was completed. Most of it was a blur. Omar is an incredible captain of his ship. And I was very lucky to have a really special crew of people to make it happen with.

Where to start…some odd number of years ago, Michael Uzowuru introduced me to Arima Ederra. At the time I had no idea how formative that meeting would be. Arima and I would walk to the park next to my house, watch sunsets and talk for hours. She had an album she had started and she wanted to finish it. To this day I still don’t fully understand why she trusted me to help her see it through but she did. I was truly just a kid.
I remember the first deadline we set…😭 I think it was for early 2019???..HA! Sometimes great things take time.
Arima was the captain, our hearts the ship, and the ocean was everything in front of us. There was no right way to do it. I can’t tell you how many nights we spent trying. Just trying, some doors didn’t open for months.
My first executive production, and it is an honor this was the first. I learned about patience, I learned how to honor the process, I learned that great things do not always come easily. Thank you to every single brilliant mind that played a role in this. Thank you to everyone who encouraged and believed in us and this body of work. Thank you Arima for trusting me. Thank you for listening.
