Step into a world of wonder
Designed and fabricated for@artofplay , this playful magic+ game shop in San Diego’s Little Italy transformed a compact footprint into an immersive experience filled with curiosity, craftsmanship, and discovery.
From custom shelving to a bespoke card deck display wall, every detail was created to celebrate the artistry of tactile games, magic, puzzles, and beautifully designed objects, the kind of place where every visit uncovered something unexpected.
@artofplay has since moved their flagship experience to Brooklyn, NY, but this Little Italy shop remains one of our favorite projects and easily one of the best gift shops San Diego ever had.
Fun, thoughtful, beautifully curated, and full of personality — it perfectly reflected the playful spirit of the brand and the joy they bring to design and collecting.

Custom tables for @basepaircafe_3020
What started as a simple idea—a black and white checker tile tabletop— required a precise approach to get it right.
We CNC-routed the @richlite surface to receive each tile, allowing the pattern to sit flush and perform under heavy daily use. Just material meeting material, cleanly.
Fabricated custom by @tecture , these tables carry the same language as the rest of the space: graphic, tactile, and built to last.

From concept to install.
This started as a design idea-an organic parametric wood slat wall with integrated lighting and planted growth-and moved quickly into technical development with the team to resolve how it could actually be built.
Every detail was translated for fabrication, then carried through to the shop that produced it.
The final step is the install, which is just as critical as the design itself.
Alignment, sequencing, lighting integration, and site conditions all have to be planned with the same level of precision for the system to come together as intended.

Parametric wood slat wall installed against a concrete surtace, using organic geometry to break up the rigidity of the base condition.
Integrated lighting is concealed within the slats to provide subtle ambient glow. Planting is introduced at the base and designed to gradually grow upward, eventually interacting with the full height of the wall over time. A material system designed to evolve.

Custom chairs for @basepaircafe_3020
Designed to carry the wavy language of the space into the seating, these chairs nest precisely into each hump of the drink for a tight, intentional fit.
The leg assembly is tied together with a steel plate that doubles as a temporary landing spot for a backpack or purse.
@tecture built this for our interior design arm, @tecturestudio - handled end to end from model to shop drawings to fabrication.

Painting directly on concrete always lands right. You still get the rawness of exposed concrete, but with a layer of intention that shifts the whole space.
