Tomorrow night ~ Experience the visual splendor of Klip Collective at Passages. We’re down to just two more Passages in Season 4. Last month marked 30 concerts in the series since October 2022. 120 hours in the labyrinth. Through it all, @klipcollective has been with us, continuously leveling up and blowing our minds with visuals that fully transform the space around us. Phone videos hardly do it justice. When it’s happening live, you can FEEL the light and the motion. The textures and layers are sometimes so deep you might be tempted to walk through a wall into another dimension. If you haven’t yet experienced Passages this season, time is running out. Join us tomorrow night. Live sets by Teddy Mars and Marie Ann Hedonia [w/ Paul M’Olive & Mazel] DJ set by Alex Tebbs Mitchell Ticket l i n k i n b i o 🌀🌀🌀

Next Saturday, April 18, I’ll be stepping out from behind the board and onto the floor for two hours of music at our 31st installment of Passages. Usually I’m running the sound system, so I’m looking forward to taking it for a drive myself. It’s been a few years since I’ve played the room, and we’ve had so many incredible performances since. Excited to share where my head’s been at. 17 years ago I walked into Turntable Lab in the East Village and met Teddy Stuart. He’s been a pal, and I’ve followed his work ever since. His approach to sound and production is a constant inspiration. From partnering with Justin Strauss for A/Jus/Ted to more recent work as Salt Queen with Magali van Caloen, and collaborating with Adam Stegemann on Video Burnout, every project shows something new. A new level of production. All of that while being the creator of Samples from Mars, which has become a go-to resource for producers around the world, inspiring thousands of musicians every day. He’s played plenty over the years, but this solo set for Passages feels special. Grateful to have him with us. Next Saturday also marks the return of Marie Ann Hedonia. The last time she played Passages, it was a deep dive into the analog domain. Totally blown away, an instant fan. Klip Collective will be back at it as the sun sets in the church. Grateful to share the night with this team of artists. Passages Season 4 Episode 7 @great_circles_grcr @klipcollective @teddymars @samplesfrommars marieannhedonia

A sonic invitation to recalibrate. Sessions 16 arrives as a moment to gather yourself and find solace as the new year takes shape. Alex Tebbs Mitchell (Universal Cave, Great Circles) contribution drifts from first light into quiet storms and late-night reflection. Folk, soul, cosmic rock, one-man-band interludes, and private/press fragments dissolve and reappear, guided by feeling over form. A psychedelic transmission shaped in altered states and tuned to intuition, blurring structure into sensation. Rather than seeking resolution, Brackish Holiday lingers in motion/circling memory and mood. It turns gently, deliberately: “in the ferris wheel unturned, if I ever return” a reminder that some journeys aren’t meant to arrive, only to be felt while they’re still moving.

The Root was a tune that really taught me sitting back and playing the notes that matter. What a song, absolute brilliance. RIP D’Angelo.

Thrilled to share the @universalcave release of Del Jones Dance of ‘De Elder. Remixed by @pheeels @djstreetorchestra @sweater.dj @lildave215 @universalcave From the mind of Philadelphia legend Del Jones, the jazz-funk musician and social justice activist behind the psychedelic funk “Positive Vibes” and “The Court Is Closed’ albums, comes a cult anthem finally getting its due. Originally released on CD in 1999, Dance of ‘De Elder is a late-career epic where Jones’ unmistakable vocals and undeniable funk deliver his signature blend of history, justice and Afrocentrism to reinforce his timeless command: “DANCE // RESPECT YOURSELF.” This 12” marks the track’s debut on wax and features five remixes for today’s dancefloors. Lil Dave lifts the song into an uptempo, deep and soulful house jam, Pheels flips the vocals over a heavy, psychedelic and percussive dub, Sweater adds bright, bouncing synths that revive Jones’ chorus as a joyful decree, Universal Cave offer an extended, dubbed out, late night acid excursion, and Street Orchestra dials in a knocking MPC beat mix that could have fit right at home on the original release. When we found a copy of the Dance Of ‘De Elder CD, the title track quickly became a Universal Cave crew anthem that we played every chance we got. Early doors, end of night, looped over party tracks - we couldn’t get enough of it and knew it had to get out to a wider audience. We hope this release helps get Jones’ music and message out to DJs and dancers worldwide. Mastered by @matlefflerschulman Copies available in Philly at @great_circles_grcr Head to Universal Cave bandcamp for shipped copies

Passages season 2 closes tomorrow night. This line up not only reflects artists who deliver personal musical inspiration but also embodies much of the range Passages Season 2 has built upon. Paul Nickerson @dopejams580 is not only an incredible DJ, curator, and builder but truly executes on the “Field of Dreams,” mantra “if you build it they will come.” He has built a shrine to music and community in Oak Hill, NY. He has built one of the finest records I’ve ever set foot in, he has built an atmosphere in which you never know what song will be played next. The right song, the right time, in the right place. Knows no bounds, always playing for the present. @secswell has been making music since 1998, with over 40 releases in the bag. All are different, all are incredible , all demonstrating expert level musicality composition and production. Making music endlessly, all with intention and expanding in new spaces new tools and new narratives. His library is vast and deep and all marks a sound unique only to Cex. @hudson.river an amazing Philadelphia talent. Her musicianship is top tier and was an obvious choice to close the season. Over the past 40+ artists we’ve had at passages, we’ve heard samples, modeling, synthesis of a vibraphone of a tine, but not the physical instrument, and we are so lucky to hear a master fill our hearts and minds as we allow time to rest and reflect this summer. @midi_lizard joins @klipcollective to build the spectical on the walls of the sanctuary. Please join us tomorrow night. It will be one for the books.
