Wow!✨🥹 The Vatican recently criticized conversion therapy and referenced the testimonies of married gay Catholics while acknowledging the harm caused by these practices.
As a Catholic and supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, I believe queer Catholics deserve dignity, compassion, and freedom from stigma. Nobody should be pressured into harmful “conversion” practices in order to feel accepted by their faith community.
This moment is important for conversations around:
✝️ LGBTQ+ Catholics
🌈 conversion therapy awareness
🧠 mental health and religious trauma
🤝 inclusion in faith communities
❤️ compassion-centered advocacy
I’m Taylor — a Catholic advocate for refugees, harm reduction, and those struggling with addiction. My goal with Better Options Exist is to create educational, judgment-free content that encourages dignity, healing, and critical conversation.

I had the chance to sit down with VoyageLA and tell more of my story about teaching, theatre, queerness, and the long road to learning how to show up as my full self.
This interview isn’t just a highlight reel. It’s about the messy middle: the classrooms, the risks, the mistakes, the joy, and the belief that education and the arts can be spaces where every student gets to feel seen.
If you’ve ever wondered how Teaching While Queer came to be, or why I believe so deeply in belonging by design, this conversation is for you.
Grateful for platforms that amplify real stories and real educators.

Theatre belongs to everyone, and for Bryan Stanton, that truth shapes every classroom, rehearsal, and story they touch.
In this edition of PROFILES, we meet a theatre educator, researcher, and storyteller whose artistry lives in the spark they ignite in others. From singing Phantom in the backseat of their mother’s car to directing Carrie: The Musical with their students, Bryan’s journey is one of rediscovery, resilience, and radical inclusion.
For Bryan, teaching is its own performance: one built on curiosity, imagination, and the belief that every student deserves space to create, explore, and be heard.
Step into their story of creativity, resistance, and the power of art to shape who we become.

Last week, our organizers met to plan what will be a beautiful morning spent in community and collaboration.
We welcome all self-identified queer educators to sign up and attend this gathering -- because no one fights as an individual, we fight by building a collective!
UTLA HOR members will have the opportunity to vote on endorsement from @utlanow this Wednesday, 11/5. We look forward to ensuring that queer voices have multiple seats at the table, now and forever. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️✊✊✊

On the eve of the Queer Educators Conference… 🌈✨
I’m feeling so grateful, proud, and a little emotional. What started as a podcast has grown into a full community—a space where queer educators and allies can connect, celebrate, and support one another.
Tomorrow, we gather to honor the work we do every day: teaching, advocating, and creating spaces of belonging for our students and for each other.
Whether you’re joining us in person or sending love from afar—thank you for being part of this journey. 💜
Let’s do this, y’all.
