To commemorate 13 years of The Designers Foundry, we created a premium, limited-edition t-shirt. It’s been many years since our last t-shirt release, and with 13 traditionally recognised as the textile anniversary it felt right to make another now. The graphic features a soon to be released typeface by @thispopshitpop . The graphic is printed using a Kornit Atlas MAX PLUS DTG printer, while the small front TDF graphic is hand screen-printed. The t-shirts have been gifted to TDF collaborators, with only 13 per size now available to purchase in the Goods section of our website. Each t-shirt comes packaged in a screen-printed drawstring bag and ships in a compostable courier bag with free international shipping. 🌏 📦 Graphic and animation by @foolishmofo

🆕: Serica by @danielgremme , a uniwidth dot matrix type family with three shapes: Circle, Square and Squircle. 23 styles with variable font support. Inspired by Dutch merklap embroidery, Serica translates this traditional craft into a contemporary typographic system. By avoiding overlapping strokes and reducing the cap height to a strict 7-unit grid, the design produces steep diagonal angles and a distinctive rhythmic texture. This texture can be softened with SS01 for circular shapes or tightened with SS02 for compact shapes. Serica also includes extensive OpenType features such as swashes, ligatures, stylistic alts, emojis and more, totalling 1150 glyphs per style. Online now. Comment or DM for a demo version. 📥🔡🔵

New: Tocapu by @paovec , a retrospective look at the conquest of the Inca Empire; a tribute to Andean resistance and their struggle to keep their culture alive. Forced to adopt European artistic models, Indigenous artists subtly embedded elements of Inca cosmovision into their work without detection. This cultural syncretism inspired Paola to explore how Andean resistance might have appeared in type design.
Built on the functionality of sans serif typefaces, the design integrates reinterpretations of Inca tocapu to shape its personality, sitting between the contemporary and the ancestral. The typeface honours the past while looking forward. Available in 7 weights and a variable font, with extensive Latin support and OpenType features. Designed for projects requiring a modern tone with a distinctive human character. With the release of Tocapu we welcome Paola Vecco (@paovec ) to TDF! A graphic designer, lettering artist, and type designer based in Lima, Peru, she works across branding, innovation, and independent projects, using letterforms to explore identity and visual memory through diverse formats and materials. Her work has been recognised by the Type Directors Club, the Latin American Design Awards, the Brand New Awards, and featured in multiple international publications. Tocapu is online now to try and download. ✨

Now available on @tdfoundry - Drool is a sinister display serif by @forthandbackstudio inspired by H.R. Giger’s Xenomorph design for Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Alien. Each character feels alive, as if grown rather than drawn, with curving terminals and slick connective tissue binding its anatomy together. The result is a biomechanical serif that pulses with tension: elegant yet unsettling, familiar yet grotesque.
