Footnotes with NNEXUS and Tayo Kuku Jr. 💐 Lab 02, ‘Process Refinement’ went beyond the technical, asking artists to sit with themselves in the present. Through a 3 stage reflection journey, the cohort moved through identity and lived experience, refining their voice and intent as they went. In this process, Brandon Briscoe @bebriscoe shares how this became a creative rehabilitation of self, speaking on his journey through addiction and recovery. This flowed into a Portfolio DNA Review, where they looked at their work again, noticing alignments and misalignments. Tayo sat with select artists and offered feedback grounded in who they are and where they’re going. Building from clarity, letting the work become undeniable, evolving, and fully your own. Introducing Tayo Kuku Jr. for Lab 02 of the NNEXUS Incubator Lab Program, Wave 1: Photography and Film. 🌎 An immersive, process-driven, artist development experience rooted in intention, experimentation, and expansion across disciplines. Tayo Kuku Jr. is a Nigerian-American photographer and director exploring identity, culture, and representation through cinematic, light-driven imagery. His work spans commercial, editorial, and portrait photography, with clients including Apple, Nike, Billboard, Cartier, and Universal Music Group, and exhibitions across New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC and Chicago. Lab Synopsis: 🧪 For Lab 02: ‘Process Refinement’, Tayo will guide the cohort beyond the technical, pushing them to develop a practice centered fully in a deep understanding of Self in the present. Artists will undergo a 3-stage lifecycle of self discovery through an immersive environment to refine their voice through identity, lived experience, and intention.
