Featuring Shaughn Cooper for Lab 04: IEW (Interdisciplinary Exchange Workshop) 💡 An immersive workshop exploring the concept of light painting through experimentation, collaboration, and real-time image-making. In Lab 04, artists had the opportunity to bring their ideas to life in real time while learning the fundamentals of light painting and witnessing the film development process firsthand with a professional film developer. Shaughn Cooper is a photographer and creative producer working across commercial, music, and editorial storytelling. His work blends documentary and editorial styles, capturing culture, identity, and human-centered narratives with intention. He has collaborated with artists and brands including Pharrell Williams, DMX, Ari Lennox, Under Armour, Ryan Coogler, and more. Can you work up a treatment in under 90 minutes? This was the challenge our cohort was faced with during Lab 03, The Live Treatment Lab with @bylarrylewis . During the NNEXUS Incubator Lab program, Larry Lewis guided artists through a 90-minute challenge to execute an industry level treatment under pressure using @milanoteapp Most were approx 30% of the way done; an indication that most ideas require proper time to flesh all the way through. Introducing Larry Lewis for Lab 03: The Treatment Lab for the NNEXUS Incubator Lab Program, Wave 1: Photography and Film. 🌎 An immersive, process-driven, artist development experience rooted in intention, experimentation, and expansion across disciplines. Larry Lewis is a film photographer whose work blends cinematic storytelling with technical precision, capturing moments that feel timeless and culturally resonant. His clients include Steve Lacy for The New York Times, Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Flight Club, Vogue, and The Cultured Swine. Lab Synopsis: 🧪 For Lab 03: The Treatment Lab, Larry guided the cohort through the technical foundations of building industry-level treatments for brands and passion projects. Artists explored the usage of professional tools and software to visually articulate ideas, structure narratives, and communicate production needs with clarity and intention. Footnotes with NNEXUS and Tayo Kuku Jr. 💐 Lab 02, ‘Process Refinement’ went beyond the technical, asking artists to sit with themselves in the present. Through a 3 stage reflection journey, the cohort moved through identity and lived experience, refining their voice and intent as they went. In this process, Brandon Briscoe @bebriscoe shares how this became a creative rehabilitation of self, speaking on his journey through addiction and recovery. This flowed into a Portfolio DNA Review, where they looked at their work again, noticing alignments and misalignments. Tayo sat with select artists and offered feedback grounded in who they are and where they’re going. Building from clarity, letting the work become undeniable, evolving, and fully your own.
