When you leave your country, you leave behind a part of your soul. Friends, language, family, pets, food, and memories, tied to specific bedrooms, apartments, balconies.
You trade familiarity for uncertainty. You commit to a life outside your comfort zone, in rooms where you don’t quite fit, where the language slips through your fingers. Even the simplest tasks become laced with anxiety. Buying groceries becomes a challenge. How do I ask where the eggs are?
But oh well… change is the only constant, they say. And there’s no other way to move forward than to do your best. So you take a breath, try again, and little by little, the unfamiliar becomes a little less foreign. 🤍
