I’m so thankful to be a small part of the 💪@designingmotherhood team. I admire these individuals so much as artists, as curators, as thinkers, as feminists and as human beings. And the press is nice too - yesterday's coverage from the Boston Globe (🔥 @cate.mcquaid ) gave the show a lovely and thoughtful review. The exhibit @maamboston also got great coverage from local radio stations -- @WGBH and @WBUR -- and local news outlets too. Juliana, Zoe, Amber, Gabriella, Michelle and all the artists with whom I’m sharing walls are very special to me. Every once in a while, you meet your people in the art world. These are mine. A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this happen. #blessed — Advisors Nashira Baril | Adrianne Edwards | Tekara Gainey | Porsche Holland | Jessie Laurore | Karen Pollack | Sabrina Taylor | @maternitycarecoalition @neighborhoodbirthcenter Curatorial Designing Motherhood was curated by: Juliana Rowen Barton, Michelle Millar Fisher, Zoë Greggs, Gabriella Nelson, and Amber Winick with assistance from Michaela Blanc, Lisa Tung, and Chloe Zaug. So happy to see evidence of another artist being SO happy 🍾 #JasminSian #WhitneyBiennial2026 @anthony_meier_ @grace.elizabeth.lloyd @drewmsawyer #marcelaguerrero From @SarahCascone : “The small scale of new growth allows her to capture her subjects in the minute detail necessary for her delicate, lace-like works. Each time-consuming piece is made on recycled materials like brown paper bags from the deli or bubblegum wrappers. “I like things that are abject, and that transformative process,” Sian said, noting that even if her work does eventually get discarded, “at least they had a moment when they weren’t trash.” But it’s hard to imagine anyone throwing out Sian’s gorgeous artworks, these finely detailed graphite, gouache, and ink drawings of animals amid dense vegetation, and their impossibly precise cut-out borders. The result is akin to a lace doily, the artist turning her humble materials into something undeniably exquisite and precious.“

Only a few days left to see my friend Mimi Plumb's retrospective at the The High Museum of Art in Atlanta. And if you’re already in Venice and can't get to Atlanta in time, simply buy the book from @radius.books . The publication includes texts about Miimi's work by great writers and curators like Gregory Harris, Karen Irvine, Lauren Richman, Amanda Maddox and Jordan Bass. The exhibition and book brings together three of her major bodies of work—The White Sky, Landfall and The Golden City, and The Reservoir—that collectively contemplate the anxieties of American life in the waning years of the Cold War and its aftermath. Blazing Light: Photographs by Mimi Plumb February 6 – May 10, 2026 High Museum of Art 1280 Peachtree St NE Atlanta, GA 30309 Next stop is The Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida in October and next year in Chicago at the Museum of Contemporary Photography starting May 2027. Her work is also available from @RobertKochGallery in SF. Imagine buying and living with one of her gorgeous prints ✨

Net Impact, at the Perez Art Museum Miami. RIGHT NOW 📸 Photography captures moments you can’t see with the naked eye. The unnatural and often dangerous positions athletes move through to perform at a professional level are frozen by my camera in the tintypes. The velocity of a pitch’s effect on the body is not something we usually get to witness because it happens in a split second at 84-90 miles per hour. In this sculpture, viewers can see the impact because I have frozen the net’s response to a ghost ball hit hard into the net of the pitching shield. The sculpture, and Fantasy Life in general, examines the precarity of a person’s fate when it hangs by the thread of perpetual self-perfection. The stress on the bodies pictured in the tintypes is also shown in the sculpture by attaching bone spurs generated from all that practice and repetitive motion. So much of my previous work is about somatizing the trials of the human experience. Here, I’m visualizing the ball hit by the batter, a release of pent up tension from all the striving, sacrifice and emotion required to pursue a life in sports. ⚾️

Friday Flashback to Fantasy Life - I got so lucky 🍀 with my subjects. I ended up caring much more about these guys as human beings than as players. Just four more days to see The Shape of Dusk by Michelle Yi Martin: @JessicaSilvermanGallery in San Francisco. Final day is this Saturday April 18th. Michelle won theSF Artadia award this year and today Artadia hosted a talk with Michelle and @bampfa 's @VictoriaSung . I learned so much. And if I seem to have a little more swagger the next time you see me, know it's because of wise Michelle. Yup - I'm really proud of my pal. The work is incredible. 🪡 Michelle's hanging pieces incorporate so many of my favorite elements: motion, layers, gold, shadow play and suspended moments. Run. Don't walk. ⌛️ 621 Grant Avenue SF And let me know what you think!
