I experimented with making a short comic over a year ago for a @faberbooks and @guardian competition (hence the odd aspect ratio)
Rendered by hand with ink then digitally collaged with scanned-in ink washes (included in the last slide), I adapted the story from an animation script I’d been working on however the 4 page limit of the comic forced the metaphors and themes to come off pretty heavy handed compared to the original 😅
— But it was a good proof-of-concept and opened my mind to exploring comics as a medium where I can be much more self reliant than in film and animation.

I first laid eyes on Cecil at the lamb therefore I thought it was fitting to read his eulogy where it all started.
This is a story about a slug’s fight against alcoholism and the chains of addiction. Good for the dry jan losers. Proud to say that one of the poems I wrote for a sweaty night at the pub now exists in the physical realm!
