Welcome to our new website at synthlibrary dot cz <3 We are happy to announce that we made a big step towards our digital autonomy. SLP now have it's own registration and booking system as well.
Active members were notified and got access to the new system that includes booking calendar, news and information about our collection and other resources, on-line forum connected to the support group that’s meeting regularly at the library as well as QR generator for donations.
If you want to become a member, please register through the new form on our website. If you want to renew your membership, just write us. If you are 18 and younger, the membership is free.
If you want to support the library, you can become a member or you can generate a QR code for one time donation on our website. If you would like to donate instruments, books or other equipment, please email us.
We are looking forward to your feedback or any suggestions related to the website and the members section, as well as the opening hours, that we adjust based on your needs. We will celebrate together at the Open Doors event on the 28th of May.

🎧 We traditionally open the new Modul@rnice season within the MENT festival programme, which starts in less than a week! This is our magical ✴ 7th collaboration ✴, so we decided to make it a bit more special, open and louder! → Join us at Vodnikova domačija between February 18–20 for a three-day mixture of sound experiences, open discussion and hands-on workshops.
🦋 The programme was a team effort between several artists and organisers and focuses on providing a stimulating and safe environment for music production and knowledge exchange, while highlighting the importance of accessibility to creative tools, giving visibility to overlooked voices, and encouraging the building of communities that transcend social and cultural boundaries.
🔌 Our first Modul@rnice x MENT attempt happened in 2020 with Synth Library Prague & Mary C, who are returning this year for more synth and electronic music exploration. Připojte se k setkání se zvukovou umělkyní Never Sol. Nahlédněte do jejího tvůrčího procesu, ve kterém používá především modulární syntezátor a hlas.
„V tomto workshopu se zaměřím na to, jak se vyvíjel můj zvuk během tvoření třetí desky: jak jsem se díky modulárním syntezátorům a syntezátorům obecně dostala k mnohem autentičtejšímu vyjadření svých myšlenek, emocí a také, jak mi syntezátory a procesováni zvuku umožnili nalézt v improvizaci nosné základy nynějšího zvuku.
Na příkladu vlastní praxe, která je nyní založená na zvukové synteze a improvizaci, se pokusím ukázat, jak může každý přistupovat k hledání vlastního zvuku a hudebního jazyka a jak si budovat svůj osobitý rezervoár.“

ANNOUNCING — French/Northern Irish sound artist, producer and DJ Zoë Mc Pherson, founder of the experimental label SFX, invites participants to an in-depth session exploring rhythmic techniques, creative workflow, and the anatomy of their tracks. Blending electronic production, live performance and conceptual sound design, Zoë will open up their process, sharing methods of building dynamic rhythmic structures and developing a distinctive sonic identity.
The workshop at Synth Library Prague precedes the SFX’s 5th anniversary showcase at Fuchs2 on Friday, November 7, curated by Zoë Mc Pherson and featuring artists from the label’s roster.
☆ Tickets are available in both single and bundle options, with the workshop available separately or as part of a bundle with the event pass.

“Hledáme svůj zvuk” je hlavním motivem série akcí pro teens ve věku 13-20 let, na kterých se podílíme spolu s Noise Kitchen a jsou součástí festivalu Alternativa. Víme, že ve škole moc prostoru vaše oblíbená hudba nedostává, ať je to elektronická taneční hudba, rap nebo experimentální tvorba, noise a pod. Zajímá nás, jak to slyšíte vy, a tak vás zveme na tvůrčí workshopy s novými nástroji i k tomu, abyste se podílely*i na programu festivalu Alternativa a měly*i tedy možnost tvořit hudbu podle vašich představ, prezentovat jí, diskutovat o ní, mít vhled do organizování hudebních akcí a podílet se na jejich programu.
Všechny akce jsou zadarmo a přihlásit se můžete klidně jen na některé z nich. Mrkněte na web Synth Library nebo festivalu Alternativa a nebo se rovnou nezávazně zastavte dnes v Petrohradské v 17:00 na první akci - Alternativní Open Jam s Noise Kitchen - společném hraní a zkoumávání možností elektronických nástrojů. Bude samozřejmě možnost pobavit se k tom, co by vás zajímalo, co se chcete naučit, a co posloucháte.
A v hudební tvorbě můžete pokračovat i mimo tyto akce. Pokud je vám do 18 let, máte členství v knihovně syntezátorů zdarma. Stačí se zaregistrovat.
Knihovna syntezátorů organizuje také hudební programy pro školy, můžete nás navštívit s vaší školou, pozvat nás k vám a nebo přijít na jeden z programů, které nabízíme ve spolupráci s Atriem Žižkov.

In this soundwalk, we will approach our sonic environment from deep listening to deep recording, allowing the surrounding soundscape to unfold itself in time. The idea is to approach the space beyond what is immediately audible. For that purpose, participants will be first invited to practice their listening skills based on Pauline Oliveros’s deep listening practice and on Murray Schafer’s soundscape features. After walking across Pristav, we will finally listen with extended-techniques of field recording, namely via different types of contact microphones.
Sara Pinheiro is a sound-maker. For film and video-art, she does sound recording, editing, foley and mixing. In her solo practice, she makes acousmatic pieces, usually for multichannel performances, radio broadcasts or installations. Her work crosses practices of sound design for film with concrete and acousmatic music. It blends natural and artificial soundscapes via field recordings, foley practices and signal processing. She is a member of the live-coding group K-o-l-e-k-t-i-v and the noise trio SHLUK. She is also a regular collaborator of Synth Library and Arteacta, both in Prague. She facilitates workshops, soundwalks and listening sessions since 2012. Pinheiro is also the author of REGARDLESS, “Field recordings: a manifesto” and “Noise Pollution and Sound Beyond Sound” (with Shluk). In addition, she has put forward the idea of “deep recording” and of “the critical ear”.
