The release studies the possibilities of loop-based composition formats and trance-inspired melodies - Their interaction contributes to an aesthetic which gives room to synchronicity and sudden revelations in repetition which is deliberate in its execution. While composing the release at hand Toikkanen was inspired by Finnish Instagram meme culture, and its repetitive but carefully curated streams of pictures. Past year 2025 has been full of love, healing, compassion, building a nest again in Helsinki after three years as a nomad, slowly getting back on track with making music, performing, hosting events, drums, lot of sitting behind mixers, teaching and travels. Some losses too, self-doubt, insecurities, dealing with perfectionism and imposter syndrome. Also lot of processing between financial stability and freelancer life. Neverending story? Which all concluded in realization that it is not time to sacrifice art even in these unstable times we are living. This year was kind of test drive after hibernation and I did pretty well. For the next year I hope for peace of mind (and earth). Also I hope to share new music after long time. At least one release is already planned for the beginning of 2026 and album is slowly coming together. 1/5 Nyt kun pahin shokki on ohi tuntuu tärkeältä kirjoittaa vielä Aarosta. En ollut Aaron ylinystävä, mutta toisaalta Aaro ei myöskään laittanut tuntemiaan ihmisiä arvojärjestykseen. Aaro kuitenkin oli pitkään osa elinpiiriäni ja tärkeää vaihetta elämässäni, joka muovasi vahvasti identiteettiäni. Tutustuin Aaron luokkakaverini Laurin kautta kuustoistavuotiaana. Opiskeltiin Laurin kanssa äänilinjalla media-assistenteiksi. Lauri ja Aaro puuhailivat musiikkia ja olivat kämppiksiä. Aaro pyöritti Kuudennella Linjalla Törstdag-klubia jonne onnistuin usein pääsemään ala-ikäisenä vanhempien kavereiden kanssa. Silloin tuntu, että Aaro ja se koko jengi oli jo veteraaneja Kallion musapiireissä vaikka olivatkin vaan kuus vuotta vanhempia. Itse vasta untuvikko, joka imi kaiken itseensä, kuin pesusieni. Veteraaneilla olikin tapana kutsua mua “nuoreksi padawaniksi”. Ei mitään muistikuvaa, että kuka ja milloin sen aloitti, mutta eilen se muistui mieleen. Olin täynnä intoa ja energiaa ja tiedonjanoa erityisesti elektronista musiikkia kohtaan. Tottakai Aaro oli suomen paras räppäri, mutta meitä yhdisti alussa erityisesti rakkaus elektroniseen musiikkiin ja syntetisaattoreihin. Mun ensimmäinen itse järjestämä isompi tapahtuma oli muistaakseni Purple Saturn Day Kalasataman konttiaukiolla 2012. Jotenkin onnistuin saamaan sinne esiintymään hengästyttävän kattauksen sen hetkisiä tyyppejä joita fanitin Helsingin skweee- ja dubstep-piireissä. Aaro myös luonnollisesti soitti siellä funkulaa. Aikamoista sekoiluahan se oli ja mursin hätäpäissäni kaverin sormen jättämällä sen pakun oven väliin, mutta kai ne oli ihan hyvät bileet? Helsingin klubiskene oli myös sillon hyvin erinäköinen. Kuudes Linja, Siltanen ja Mbar olivat keskeisiä paikkoja. Kuudes aistia ja Nokia Factorya myös lämmöllä muistellen. Niissä kokoontuvaa jengiä yhdisti ennen kaikkea rakkaus musiikkiin. Sama päti myös ug-reivien piireissä joissa ite sittemmin vaikutin erityisesti osana Vialliset-kollektiivia. PLUR. (Jatkuu kommenteissa ->)

Performing my lecture-performance Continuum this Thursday at @savonlinnanuusitaidemuseo2025 in Savonlinna. It is an homage to my late grandmother Salme, who passed away in May at the age of 100. She lived most of her life in Savonlinna. When I began planning this performance with Lauri Ainala @paavoharju.savonlinna I imagined that Salme would be present this week. Now it is going be quite different. Continuum is built around cinefilm footage shot by my grandfather Niilo and my father Timo between the 1960s and 1980s. Some of it was filmed in Savonlinna and around the house where my grandmother lived until the end and where we also held her memorial. “Continuum is an intimate lecture-performance exploring the transmission of images, memory, and technology across generations. Through archival footage capturing family travels, daily life, and moments in the Finnish countryside, the piece reflects on how personal and collective memories take shape through media. By blending storytelling and moving images, and juxtaposing past and present, analog and digital, Continuum raises questions about how we remember—and how technology shapes those memories. It’s a meditation on time, memory, and perception.” I’ll also perform a separate music set and dear @saksohvi will also play her solo material. During the day there’s an amazing program of films and if the weather is good acrobatics by Trio Musirca.

Once again we proved that @norbergfestival is the best festival that exists. Model of an utopian anti-capitalist world. During the week I got many times emotional thinking of what impact the festival has had on my identity and worldview when first time arriving 2015 to volunteer as sound technician in Mimerlaven when I was 21 years old. All work on the festival is volunteer based. No one is forced to work their ass off and every stage of production is transparent. If you want to get involved, get involved. We do this because we truly love it. During the past ten years I have seen many phases of the festival and grown together with it. All those old and new faces and that openness of the people you cross paths during the week. Spirit of the festival and variety of music and art is something you have to experience yourself.
