Italian curator in residency: @elenavaninetti This week Elena left after a two-weeks residency in Gothenburg, where she had the opportunity to build on her own research project based on archival material. To support this, SWIT launched an open call for local artists working with archives, in order to connect the curator with the city’s art landscape. She was able to engage with local practices and expand her network through studio visits and on-site experiences. In the images, you can see the works of some artists she met. She also had access to Göteborgs Bildverkstad, and had her accommodation and travels covered. THANK YOU ELENA! Residency funded by the City of Gothenburg and @iicstoccolma .

On the latest number of @artribune I'm talking about my @switplatform residency! Thank you so much @caterina.angelucci for interviewing me and giving me the chance to tell why I believe it's important to give also curators the chance of fully-funded residencies. In a nutshell, what i say is that every artist wants to work with curators, but then there's very few opportunities for curators to develop and support their work. And in Gothenburg we rarely meet curators. I also talked about the choices behind the accommodations, the open calls, and the fact that there's no need to produce or present anything during our SWIT Residency. For me it's more important to come to a new place, being inspired by a new environment, new people, new food and then maybe, months after, those impressions will result in a new work. Keep reading in the paper version, available everywhere in Italy! Artribune number 89, pages 28–31.

Welcome @elenavaninetti to SWIT Residency 2026! She'll be staying with us in Gothenburg for two weeks with the aim of meeting local visual artists who engage with archival material. ABOUT Elena (Lovere, 1984) is a Milan-based art curator, writer, and consultant. After earning a degree in Cultural Heritage Studies from the University of Milan, she began her professional journey in photography. Since 2023, she has been the head of the photography department at Catawiki. Her curatorial practice critically questions how images are exhibited, interpreted and circulated. - The residency is funded by the City of Gothenburg. In collaboration with @iicstoccolma

FOLDED CITIES is now up at Lagerhusets Bibliotek in Göteborg, and will be there until April 10th. The exhibition brings together self-published photobooks from Italy-based artists and books from the T10P collection, placed into dialogue through shared themes, contrasts in aesthetic and approach. The idea has been developed in collaboration with @switplatform and, for this presentation, the publications sit directly on the shelves of @lagerhusetsbibliotek . The show travels to Italy later this year and we will keep you posted 🌞 Thank you @i.am.stefano.conti and and @lagerhusetsbibliotek to make this happen.
