Last week we were fortunate enough to film a live session at the famed @mitla_cafe in San Bernardino for our @nprmusic #tinydeskcontest submission. This was a dream come true for me, my grandfather was born across the street in his childhood home long since demolished. The original Swing Auditorium stood down the street before the plane crash and it was never rebuilt. The Mitla has been a staple in the community for many families and years. Thank you Michael, Steven, Dave and all the staff who allowed us in on their day off. Thank you James Love, @quin.alden_ and @kobeman__ for playing alongside me. I think about where I was when I wrote this. Who I wrote it for and if they’d ever hear it. I think the feeling has changed since then but the meaning stays the same. You hope to be seen at the end of it all after all the changing and healing. To either prove it to them but mainly to yourself that you can get better.
