As we approach Earth Day, I am reminded that caring for the planet isn’t a once-a-year moment— it’s a daily practice rooted in how we show up for our land, our food, and each other. And it’s about honoring the land — and the communities who protect it through everyday action.
When I spoke with Zsameria Rayford months back (EA184), we explored how SWAP DC → SWAP Universe isn’t just about clothing. It’s about reducing the strain on the land that grows our food, keeping harmful waste out of soil and waterways, and creating joyful spaces where neighbors exchange clothes, plants, books, and knowledge.
It’s a reminder that sustainability is not a silo.
Healthy soil, healthy food, healthy people, healthy communities.
