I've started some serious moves with custom bike parts at the beginning of this year. A few months later I'm presenting you an oval chainring made from titanium. Designing it was bad. Machining was even worse. But here it is in all its glory.

Kuba @ghettopatent has finished the brazing! And oh boy, it looks amazing 🫠 No filing, nor sanding needed, the frameset is straight from the torch (and citric acid bath i guess). I love the raw fillets and unprotected steel look, but those are both brutal and subtle. Seriously, you can admire the level of craftsmanship just by looking at this, but believe me, it's even better in person (there was a lot of touchy-touchy, couldn't help myself 🫦)
Quick reminder, besides the @reynoldstechnology tubing, all of the components were made in Poland by @sutryk.workshop

Potrzebowałem adaptera hamulcowego o mało znanym i starym standardzie (formular standert?) na widelcu #marzocchi bomber Z2 z 1998 roku.
Na drukarce 3d wydrukowałem 2 prototypy (bo okazało się, że wymiary w internecie nie były poprawne 🤭), co pozwoliło mi sprawdzić, jak adapter rzeczywiście będzie pasować. Ostatni krok to wykonanie przez @sutryk.workshop i piękna anoda.

Part 1 - the horizontal shots
As it turned out, the machining process is time-consuming, and most of the shots online are sped up! Who would have though ;)
Yokes aside (see what I did there?), if you ever wondered how making custom CNC’d parts actually looks like in real life, the amount of prep work is about two thirds of the time spent, and that is without the programming and modeling.
Time optimization comes with increased volume, so if you ever order a custom, one-off part, don’t expect it to be cheap.
That said, I had some time to spare waiting for the actual finished product to magically appear from the yellow mistery box, so I took some workshop photos - enjoy.

These are just chainstay yokes. Nothing fancy, right? Could be easily done by simple tube dimples, or from a bent bar of steel. Sure, but not @sutryk.workshop . There is custom, and there is Custom. Framebuilding is not always about being 100% pragmatic, it can be a form of art. Technical, applied art. Devil’s in the details, as usual, so the final form of the bike shouldn’t be appreciated without noticing those. The hardware. The little moustaches hidden everywhere in the frame. The stamp of Przemek’s art :)

This collaboration of Kuba and Przemek is coming out better than I ever wondered. Guys outdid themselves and I am very optimistic about the future of polish custom bike scene! Stay tuned for the final product!
