Welcome, May! This month is special - it is when Susurrus' magnolia oolong tea is "born" 🌱
The organic Jin Xuan "golden lily" cultivar of oolong tea is harvested by-hand in Fujian, China from a garden situated at 3,000 feet elevation.
The Jin Xuan oolong - already fresh, fruity, and expressively floral - adopts its luscious magnolia notes from subtropical magnolia blooms harvest in Guangxi, China. Truly a perfect pairing! ✨
Then, the manual, ancient technique of floral scenting lasts just over two weeks. Unlike jasmine teas, the magnolia petals remain integrated with the tea leaves, gaining even more floral notes and sweetness as the petals oxidize.

Nat is a Sonoma-based cyanotype artist ☀️ She harvests the beauty of botanicals using sunlight to capture otherwise-fleeting moments and the essence of each season. Truly Nature's impressionism.
She and I visited @redwoodteaestate last autumn to capture the fleeting tea bloom from one of the United State's extremely rare and precious Camellia sinensis tea gardens.
We asked the bees very politely, and they agreed, to let us harvest fresh tea plants and their blossoms 🐝 🌸
