This was a fun project. A customer came to us with a special request for a 450mm steer tube. He needed this for the frame he was building to accommodate his back problems. To make this happen, we adapted a steel steer tube that was already being manufactured for frame builders. We welded a lower seat into place and machined to the appropriate dimensions, then pressed it in. This wasn’t without its own challenges as our typical jig isn’t made to accommodate 450mm of steer tube. Always fun to make one off projects happen for excited customers.

As this new hobby has absolutely consumed my life, it’s made me passionate about something again. We wanted to capture what that feels like in this video. Speed and flow. Nothing else. That’s what it feels like to send it down a hill on two wheels and some rubber.
I had the privilege of filming my friend and professional mountain bike athlete, @thorn_bickel over the holiday break. I haven’t had this much fun filming in a LONG TIME and this one really challenged me. This was the first time I filmed action sports. Needless to say, I think I want to do more of it! Thanks to everyone who watched this through. Thorn is an absolute beast.. and we have more cooking.
