Last month Surfrider DC joined more than 180 surfers, scientists, and policymakers in advocating for federal policies that protect our coasts and oceans as a part of the 10th annual @surfrider Coastal Recreation Hill Day! 🌊
We met with representatives in Congress to discuss 1) Protection of @noaa funding, 2) Water quality monitoring on our coastlines, and 3) Stopping the threat of new offshore drilling.
Check out our website at the link in our bio to learn more about these critical and urgent issues, and how YOU can take action today to protect our ocean, waves, and beaches 🤙🏽
Earth Day clean up with the Sailing Club of Washington (@scowsailing ) 🌎 thanks to our amazing volunteers we removed over 200lbs of marine debris from the local sailing marina on Sunday! ⛵️
Our local marinas sit on the Potomac River, which is a part of the same watershed that flows into the Chesapeake Bay. Our actions here, in the Nation’a Capital, matter downstream, which is why keeping the river clean, reducing plastic pollution, and supporting healthy shorelines is so important to protecting a vital coastal and marine ecosystem!
Celebrate Earth Day and honor the planet by beautifying the area around the Potomac River with the Sailing Club of Washington ( @scowsailing ) and Surfrider DC ⛵️🌎
We will gather around 2:00 to kick off the event and pass out supplies, spend a couple of hours picking up trash, and then end with a social hour and snacks!

💕 Are you tired of the DC dating scene? Is your love life a steaming pile of garbage? Do you want to meet like-minded people who care about the environment? 💕
You’re in luck! DC Surfrider and @district.cleanups are hosting the THIRD annual “Love Is Trash” Community Clean Up, at Meridian Hill Park, on Saturday, February 21 at 12pm
Name tags and stickers will be made available for volunteers to let everyone know if you’re ✅ single and ready to mingle, ❌ happily taken and here for the tea, or 🗑️ literally just here to pick up trash. All are welcome!
After the clean up, we’ll head over to our favorite Ocean Friendly Restaurant, @dcvagabond , to keep the momentum going 🍻 Because nothing says “dating in DC” like telling your friends you met at an environmental NGO Happy Hour 😉
