DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT:
“A lot of my prior projects had been flashier things like music videos and commercials. As I head towards a narrative career, I wanted to challenge myself keep the style of Dial Up simpler yet detailed and tell the story in a way that reminds me of 80s dramas.
The short is shot on 4 perf 35mm film. This choice was in ways a technical challenge, but really allowed us to create an intimate set and capture Michael Ridley’s performance as authentic as possible. We had all worked with film before but never on a production that was our own. The added focus it naturally brought to the crew helped us all strive for perfect takes every time we rolled the camera.”
