For anyone who has lived in this world in a fat body, you get used to people using it as a reason to exclude you from all sorts of things. If you are a fat person in the performing world specifically, you can multiply this by 10 (and yes, that includes opera which, despite the old stereotypes is obsessed with singers' weight). That is why this whole process of working with the lovely @tillybuttons team has meant so much to me.
The pattern is gorgeous and it fit absolutely beautifully from the outset - so much work has gone in to creating the block for the new size range and making sure that it is the best fit for bodies in that bracket.
I was so nervous going in to the shoot, I just had never contemplated being approached to do anything like this, but @helloyellowclub and @janelookerphotography made it such a positive and celebratory experience, and every interaction I have had with TATB during and after the process has been so great.
I have come out of the process feeling really proud of myself, much more confident and knowing that somedays I may be bigger, and somedays I may be smaller, but every day I am a badass (with great hair and some lovely dresses) Here's to self belief and loving the body you're in 💛🥳💃🏻

From my first ever order - some green horse-print viscose which I cut the wrong way and had to order more of 😅 - through various projects, both for myself and for the JS blog. @jennystitchesfabrics has always been one of my fave indie businesses - great fabric but also Jenny is just the loveliest person, always on hand with great advice, generosity and inspiration!

Tauko no.19 is out and I am SO READY for a Nordic Summer with my gingham Agnäs dress. She is floaty and fabulous, and was made for lounging around on a summers day! Agnäs was designed by @rastlosheten and can be found in the latest @taukomagazine (no.19) along with lots of othet dreamy, summery designs.

The perfect day to celebrate a lovely wedding, and the perfect first outting for my latest @fabricgodmother Peony dress 💃🏻
Fabric is a FG exclusive print called Flavia, on viscose crepe. The bodice is straight up Peony, the skirt is simple gathered skirt as I prefer the silhouette on me.

💐 Frances 💐
A new pattern for me and I think that I may have found my perfect jersey dress! This is the @victorypatterns #francespattern - I picked it because I liked the overall silhouette, but also it has lots of sleeve and neckline options, so I hope it can fill many spots in my wardrobe! I went for the crew neck and 3/4 length sleeves. I'm really pleased with the overall fit!
The fabric is a gorgeous viscose jersey from my fave @jennystitchesfabrics - it is really soft and drapey. Perfect for this kind of dress!
The waist dropped a lot when I added the skirt on, so depending on your fabric you may want to shortern the bodice prior to attaching the skirt. I did do this, but it lengthened more and more as it hung so I should have taken a bit more off. I decided not to unpick as I still like the fit, and the busy pattern covers the seam, but otherwise I would have done.
So pleased with the dress, and I am excited to wear it to work tomorrow!

🌷 Hatton🌷
I had been eyeing up this sherpa fleece for a while, and then @fabricgodmother had a coating sale and I took that as a sign that it had to be mine 😅 love the colours, feels lovely and good to work with.
Fortunately, the sale lined up with @cashmerette releasing the Hatton fleece as one of their club patterns and I am SO happy with how this has turned out! I made a few changes, which are as follows...
Following advice from the gorgeous @tea_operated I decided to lengthen the jacket - this one is about 3.5 inches longer. I really like the length now - perfect for dog walks and I can chuck it on over whatever. The Hatton usually has a seam at the waist which I omitted - due to pocket construction there is still a stitch line there, but it meant that I did not need to print match. I also omitted the ripstock chest pocket as I didn't have a good colour match and preferred the look without. I added a label from the @kylieandthemachine sweary advent calendar in it's place.
My life would have been easier if I had chosen wider fold over elastic. I made it work, but it took a lot of swearing and unpicking and still not looking too closely please.
