My first online class is now open, and I am so excited to share it with you.
Garment Sewing Essentials is a live virtual workshop designed for the beginner sewer who wants to understand the foundations of garment construction. Not just what to do, but why it works.
Together, we work through techniques hands-on, building a personal fabric sample reference book as we go. One you’ll come back to for every garment you make from here on.
We cover: ✦ Pressing ✦ Seam finishing ✦ Seam allowance and bulk management ✦ Fabric control techniques ✦ Adding strength and stability ✦ Creating shape
Whether you’re a beginner looking for a strong foundation or a self-taught sewist who feels something is missing, this class is for you.

When it comes to a patterned fabric, the difference between a pocket that looks intentional and one that looks like an afterthought is pattern matching.
A mismatched pocket breaks the whole illusion. But when the print flows seamlessly from the garment onto the pocket, it looks like the fabric was always meant to be that way.
Here’s the technique I use: trace the fabric print directly onto the pocket pattern piece using tracing paper, then use that tracing to position the pattern piece precisely before cutting. Each pocket gets cut independently, so the print aligns perfectly on both sides.
It takes a few extra minutes, but the result is worth it!
Save this for your next printed fabric project 📌

My Style Muse: Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
If you grew up in the 90s, you might remember this show, where the wardrobe was a character in and of itself. Jane Seymour played Dr. Michaela Quinn, a Boston-trained doctor who packed up her life and moved to Colorado Springs in the 1860s to prove herself in a world that wasn’t exactly ready for her. Strong, independent, and completely overdressed for the frontier. My kind of woman.
The costumes are doing so much heavy lifting in this show. Yes, there are beautiful gowns, but what I’m really in love with are the buttoned-down looks. The ones Dr. Quinn wears when she’s riding through the countryside, treating patients, and doing her whole non-conforming thing. It’s a beautiful, rugged prairie meets refined aesthetic, and I’m living for it! I love the dusty, earthy tones, plaids, and textures that feel so wearable even now, and the way she mixed feminine, structured pieces with oversized, casual, rugged ones.
Here are some of my favourite looks from the show. Tell me you don’t want to raid her wardrobe! Drop a 🤠 in the comments if you were a Dr. Quinn stan, or if you’re about to go down a costume rabbit hole.
Once you discover how specialty presser feet can open up your sewing world, you’ll wonder how you ever worked without them. They can make many techniques faster and easier, including bias binding. This adjustable bias binding foot is one of my favorites. I use a generic version from @madamsew (not an affiliate), and it’s been such a helpful tool. Do you have a favourite foot that’s changed your sewing game? #sewingtips #sewingmadeeasy #sewing tools
My four-year-old daughter is beginning to take an interest in sewing. I love watching her little hands at work as she sits beside me, learning to guide the fabric, watching the needle, and slowly building confidence at the machine.
It’s such a sweet thing to witness, and I’m so grateful to share this craft with her.

One of the hardest parts of winter for me is looking at my fabric stash and knowing I have to wait patiently before cutting into my pretty summerweight florals.
Over the past year, I thrifted this little stash of vintage sheets. I never leave a thrift shop without checking the bedsheet section. It’s a great source for beautiful prints (and generous yardage).
I can’t wait for spring, when I can finally dive into this fabric stash.
Tips for hunting thrifted sheets:
🌹100% cotton is best, but a cotton blend works if the print steals your heart.
🌸Feel the fabric: check drape, weight, and density.
🌼Look for holes, threadbare spots, stains, or pilling.
🌺Make sure the print scale fits your project.

There’s something so special about making Christmas stockings for the people you love 🎄

The other day, I watched one of my favorite movies, My Neighbour Totoro, with my daughter. She loved it, and it makes me so happy to be able to share the things I love with her 💛
At the end credits, I noticed the sweetest little illustrations: the main characters wearing baggy pants with tiny Totoro patches on the knees.
I’ve been wanting to try appliqué, so I thought this would be the perfect little project for her.
She looks so sweet in these gingham Totoro pants, and I can’t believe how much joy I get from making clothes for her 🥹✨
Have you ever made something inspired by a movie or show you love?
