Negative Blast @negativeblastsd - Destroy Myself for Fun LP to be released via Three One G @threeoneg Records and Vitriol Records @vitriol_records on November 14th. Link in bio to preorder. Negative Blast formed in San Diego during the depths of the pandemic when longtime buds Rainier Pesebre (vocals) and Alexander Jacobelli (guitar) began trading riffs and ideas in isolation. Jacobelli and bassist Patrick Callaway were touring buddies in their respective bands Lewd Acts and Hour of the Wolf during the early 2000s hardcore punk renaissance. Within two weeks of Rain and Alex jamming ideas, Pat relocated from Chicago to San Diego, cementing the songwriting core of the band. Jacobelli, who operates Sunsick Studio in La Mesa, engineered and mixed the band’s early recordings, allowing Negative Blast to develop and release material quickly. Their first EP, The First Four Months, was followed by DEMO 002. Initial shows featured Sam Rich (Del Vipers, Riverboat Gamblers) on drums before the group began work on their first LP, Echo Planet, released through Quiet Panic Records. Midway through the record, Callaway reached out to Mario Rubalcaba (Earthless, Hot Snakes, Rocket From the Crypt), who joined on drums. With Rubalcaba, the band released a split with LA hardcore act SWEAT via Vitriol Records. In 2025, drummer Hunter Martinez (Decent Criminal, Human Issue) stepped in as a permanent member. His energy is captured on the band’s 2025 full-length, Destroy Myself For Fun. Spent a couple weekends making various loud noises at @sunsickstudio (the place where dreams come true). Now all the production fun begins! When all's said and done, a new Mysidia EP will land safely upon your metalian shores next year. Are you shreddy?* *This pithy phrase brought to you by engineer extraordinaire Alex Jacobelli.

Destroy Myself for Fun is out today! Found in all the usual places you’re accustomed to finding musiq The following pictures are for all the nerds out there There are no pictures showing Pat, Hunter or Drew (or even me, I suppose) but rest assured, they were indeed present and accounted for, each crushing their given role This go around, we broke tracking up into several session, which means I got to use lots of different pedals and amps, and thats all I actually care about, to be honest. My goal for this record was to just keep moving and not get bogged down with indecision, ego, or anything else that hampers forward movement. Trust your instincts, fix things that are jumping out, and move on. Y’know, try to have some “fun”. Many thanks to my wife, my band mates, my friends and collaborators, @threeoneg , @vitriol_records . The best part of this whole thing is spending time and creating something with great people. It takes a village and Im honored to be a part of this one Credits Drums: Hunter Martinez, Rainier Pesebre and Andrew Montoya Bass: Patrick Callaway Guitar: me Additional guitar on “FutureRock” by Scott Savarie Vocals: Rain the Pain Spiritual Guidance and QA by Cody Fledderjohn Tracked at Sunsick Studios January 2025-June 2025 Additional Vocal tracking at Casa De Montoya Engineered by Me and Drewman Mixed by, hey, you guessed it: me Mastered by the inimitable Brad Boatright Cover art and Layout by Jordan Palmer Insert Photo by Hugo Romero Back Sleeve photos by Becky DiGiglio Released by Three One G and Vitriol Gosh, this feels a bit long winded and indulgent, but hey: thats showbiz bb
