My 3rd album Through It All I Give You My All is out now on Bandcamp (/album/through-it-all-i-give-you-my-all) This album focuses mostly on the struggles of being an artist. As I was researching themes for this feeling I was having I ended up watching “Raging Bull” a movie by Martin Scorsese and it immediately inspired me. Shortly after I watched the anime “Hajime No Ippo” and was finally able to piece everything together. In my mind being an artist and being a boxer are very similar. Every time I make an album it feels like I’m “in the ring” and every album that I complete feels like obtaining a new “belt.” Another comparison to the belts as an artist is also awards, critical acclaim, fame, etc. All of which are distractions and those that have seen it all like @miketyson for example also realized the value wasn’t in the belts, but the journey. Much like how alienating being a boxer is, I started noticing that my commitment to being an artist started to lead to a disconnect with reality and with the people I hold dearest to me. There is a certain level of sacrifice that has to happen in order to be an artist fully. It’s like being a samurai, there’s codes to follow and although fun is part of it, it’s not a craft that is not to be taken seriously. The album title “Through It All, I Give You My All” is what I felt when I tried to draw a comparison with a person like Jake LaMotta to myself. It’s a reminder to those that I love and more importantly to myself that despite everything that’s going on, I vow to give my passion 110%. I appreciate all of my friends @babyfacecorp who kept me inspired to immerse myself fully on a Hip Hop album. Hip Hop is the reason I ever started music so this project is also a love letter to it and a way to cherish all of the friendships and experiences it has brought me.
