a cyanotype stop motion
of me dancing in my dad’s tea house
this year, i’m learning to share more, fear less, and lessen the gap between ideation and action. this is an excerpt of a silly little passion project born out of my resolution to bring all that i know into all that i do. it’s far from finished and filled with all the little imperfections a process demands when learning new skills, but it’s started nonetheless! hope to share the finished product soon⋆˚꩜。
sitting in a lot of gratitude right now~ for this project, i got to stand in as one of my biggest dance inspirations @mistyonpointe on set! i remember watching her documentary over and over again when i was 9, so getting to work with misty in real life was such a surreal experience🥹
it was an absolute dream to contribute to such a phenomenal project! thank you to the incredible crew for making this a one of a kind experience and many gratitudes to the ever so lovely @kyle_abraham_original_recipe for bringing me on🫂
and wow what a joy to witness two ICONIC women @cynthiaerivo@mistyonpointe make magic together~HAPPY WICKED SEASON💚🩰🧹
movement as language
for my senior thesis, i explored the intersections between ASL and dance. because these two movement languages inherently compliment each other, my goal was to investigate how ASL performance can be used to enhance and enrich dance. how can these signifiers inform what we know of physical storytelling and what can we learn from their conversation?
in this low stakes and incubative week long period, i created a piece to one of my favorite songs with some of my favorite movers~
the research is far from over but for now here are some snippets of play and curiosity and fun🌱☕️🤟
