This Bridge Called My Hand Join us for the Private View on Wednesday 13th May, 6–8PM
Show remains open 14th and 15th of May, 10:30–4:30 Pepys Community Hub
Deptford, London, SE8 3BA Drawing on the embodied and intersectional ethos of the seminal feminist anthology This Bridge Called My Back, this exhibition frames the creative process as another exercise of bridge-building. Through the lens of individual experience, these six artists translate universal concerns into a body of work that connects diverse and perpetually negotiated territories. With @kebinilu3000 @ess.mcc @sum088 @untitled_dui @shilekka_ @maura_sappilo_reborn
Curated by @fr4nzine as part of @goldsmithsmfa poster by @sekulpizarro ✨ (Please note exhibition venue is located in Pepys Community hub basement, down a staircase)

Sumayah Fallatah’s work flows between memory and identity as she traces her Nigerian roots through layers of different mediums. Each piece feels like an attempt to reconnect, preserve, and understand where she comes from.

Lisbon times, 2024🌸 I tried to make this video short but there were too many moments that needed to stay, so I will be giving prizes to those who make it to the end of this video🏃🏾‍♀️🫶🏾

Kofar Mata - Kano, Nigeria✨ Funny enough, I never thought I’d actually end up visiting these dye pits when I first started working with indigo last year. Even though it was a rushed visit, I’m really glad I got to see them.

I became you, so I lost myself—a project for my @miskartinst x @monolisboa residency. This work explores the emotional weight of cultural assimilation and the grief of what has been left behind by African families in the Arab region. A heartfelt thank you to @hugocantegrel , @imanebazoune , and @jule_anna for their support and guidance throughout my time at the residency. And to everyone who shared their time and engaged in mind-opening conversations with me: @abm_sultan , @tobi.aye , @gadaay , @hayfa_algwaiz , and my big brother and sister @abdiiphoto and @salfx_ 🫶🏾🫂 A special thanks to @soony.x for granting me access to his family photos and experimenting with me ⭐️🫶🏾. Deep gratitude to @madveloso and @toits.illustration for their assistance, and last but not least, an enormous thank you to @minussomething for being the best residency mate and friend on earth ❤️🫂⭐️
