Since you won’t see this - I am making your birthday about me ;) and how I can’t believe you are 13 today… slash officially a teenager (who is taller than me). Even though I repeatedly asked you to SLOW DOWN - I am ‘allowing’ you to get older - since your heart & brain are growing just as fast and so you keep getting sweeter & smarter… despite being ‘too cool’ now. 🥳✨🎈🦂🐉 ♥️
Fell down a rabbit hole into a Kyoto candy store run by a fairytale couple who live in an avalanche of kawaii packaging & his equally cute drawings…
we left with a heavy haul (tallied by a lightning fast abacus) …including a tin that has the same Demon Slayer character (Giyuu) as Kinley’s Halloween costume this year & my mask for next ;)
These past few months have been a total blur - marked by a leap of faith I made in mid May - when I left Union Hall - to make space for them & for myself to pivot …and while I was mid air - Louise - Louise-ed & offered me a safety net (while she took a “sabbatical”). We’ve both resurfaced as part of a big shift @redlinedenver - where she is now the captain of a new ship she built for CAST - leaving me in charge of exhibitions, the residency, and regranting (as Art Director & Chief Curator). The latter took me to Ouray last week - where I got to sit still …in hot springs & stare at this view.
Posting this pic to remind myself - of the beauty of the blur of the past few months that led me/us to where we are now. And to thank Louise for allowing me to weave a new web… one that hopefully leads to more - sitting still in hot springs ;)

Reminded me - how much I love (and learned from Florence) the marriage between contemporary art x fashion - which - this time around - birthed commissions by 3 Korean female artists: @zadiexa@khjstudio & @soosunnypark
But of course, the best was seeing old friends (including dresses) inside a Dior x OMA Akira Kurosawa ‘Dreams’ like moon jar filled with K-pop stars - floating inbetween spring/summer, fall/winter & my own past, present, and future screenplay.

when Louise asked me to make impromptu remarks about the concept behind this year’s @redlinedenver resident show …I somehow ended up talking about speed dating & hand holding?
I guess I had relationships and racing on my mind… after getting to know 27 artists in essentially 2 months.
I’ve never worked with so many artists at once - in such a short time (while juggling a new job & too many other side projects) but thanks to @lmartorano & @leighkargol - I gained a new super power - given the reigns to work intuitively & organically (to get to first base ;) with the urgency that is required of us right now.
…which resulted in a love letter to the land - an extension of a living land acknowledgment - where artists materialized a web of intersections surrounding our current global metacrisis (environmental, social, political, cultural, economic, psychological crises) by instantly tapping into their souls. 💚💚💚
