Heads up: we’re replacing our AC units next week, which means we’ll be closed for a couple of days. Not ideal, but these things happen. The good news? Our friends at Substrate and Bar à Vins are letting us set up shop at their places while we’re down. Monday, May 4th at Substrate – Roast Beef Sando Tuesday, May 5th at Bar à Vins – Duck Sausage Hoagie Both nights we’ll have Berry Ripple Ice Cream, because why not. 2 years of sub :,) We’ll keep it less sappy than last year, but please accept yet another annual gratitude dump. This is a really specific place, but we always sorta hoped & suspected it could feel like a place for everyone, so to watch it grow into a fixture in so many of y’all’s dope ass lives is the highest compliment we could ever hope for. We will be celebrating all weekend, Friday - Sunday. FRIDAY: Absolute behemoth of a free tasting / meet the winemaker with @vinyes_singulars & @nativeselections . We will have 8(!?) of Ignasi’s wines to show you, and it is the first time that these wines have ever been in North Carolina. Free to try 5 - 7ish but we’ll be pouring them all night long. SATURDAY: Same vibe as last year: music all day, magnums all day. Some 3L bottles. Some 6L bottles. We will be opening some really outrageous stuff with reckless abandon from open to close. @union.barbecue will be here running back their extra special “wine bar menu” just for us. Sunday: Big ahhh vintage pop-up with our friends @foundclt ! We’ll have a dozen vendors + brunch from @hello_uncle_clt & @pertinaciouscoffee . Choose your own adventure typa birthday weekend. Yeehaw/Giddy Up/Yippee-Ki-Yay! We are running back ye ole Bluegrass Brunch. Last year was such a hoot, we figure we’ll make this a recurring lil neighborhood stomp & holler. @featherpocket will be pickin for ya, @union.barbecue is handling the proteins, and @pertinaciouscoffee is back to keep us all caffeinated. High noon until the cows come home. (We promise we won’t run out of ice this year 🧊🫶)

That time again already! Industry night (but all are welcome). Star-studded cast this month. The most cooks we’ve had in the kitchen thus far; @car.nal_ x @hello_uncle_clt + @seanjteague have put together a beautiful & hilariously cheffy menu for you all. All the people that said substrate would never serve cactus or clarify or force carb been real quiet lately😤 We are so lucky to have a physical space and even luckier to have so many talented pals to share it with. Thank you again for supporting us and our people and allowing us to fool around on these Monday nights.

First Indu$try night of the year is next Monday 🖤 (Would have been today but the AVL homies are snowed in) We will be handing the keys over to @han.et of @pink_moon_bar and @sophieaylette from @riseoverrunwines for the evening and lettting them pour some of their favorites. Sub owes its existence, at least on a metaphysical level, to Pink Moon. Walking into Ethan’s lair for the first time and seeing the irreverence with which he was running his “program” was an “oh shit + aha + this IS possible” moment fr (sry to glaze u king💖). NC owes so much of its access to cool shit to Rise. Just good people importing good stuff made by other good people; they’re a reminder as to how simple this industry should be, but so rarely is. As is tradition, @hello_uncle_clt will be here to feed you all yet again. Make sure you dap up @soupdjor and congratulate him on the new digs @uncles_clt *obligatory reminder that we will not ask you where you work or anything, “regular” people are more than welcome you don’t have to be a tatted line cook or mixologist in suspenders, if you are pulling up to drink Mallorcan pet nat on a Monday night you are good*

We will once again be pouring some outrageous large formats by the glass 🫡 Vintage champagne, grower champagne, free champagne at midnight, plenty of champagne. No tickets, no theme, just come as you are and cut loose 🪩

Aight team, finally time to run it back. @premiumsoundnc & @alreadysammies sniffed this $hit out back in June and things have only gotten more f*cked since that initial benefit. Already will be here for lunch 1:00 - Sellout, and then @el.veneno.clt & @dulcedreamscafe will be taking over for dinner/dessert to keep this thing rolling into the evening. Food sales are all going to @carolina_migrant_network . 40% of our sales for the entire day are going to @carolina_migrant_network . NEXT WEDNESDAY 12/10! Nothing like spiced elk & dry cider to really ring in the holiday spirit! We’ve always said that! So stoked to host @vivienne_clt & @gold_hill_farm for a night. James has bent over backwards to get his hands on these ingredients & share these flavors with you all and we’ve so much respect for the enthusiasm he continues to bring to the Vivienne table. @gold_hill_farm will be here pouring our free tasting for the evening. Mitchell and Lauren are making some special stuff up in them Virginia hills: always dry & always sparkling. Wine has its place at any table and we’ll be sure to have some cool stuff open for the evening, but these lower alcohol, ebullient af ciders will really sing with this sort of food. Cider tasting will flow 6-8 (glasses and bottles will be available all night). Food will run 6-sellout. Come hungry, bring a blanket or bust out that fur coat. INDUSTRY NIGHT VOLUME 3 IS TOMORROW❗️ LAST INDUSTRY NIGHT UNTIL FEBRUARY. (We’ll be taking January off) This one is extra special because our very own insta-less TJ is tapping in to feed y’all alongside @hello_uncle_clt . Mans is back of house through and through, don’t let that impeccably-groomed smiling mustache fool you. Brother bakes a MEAN loaf. He & @soupdjor will be serving Focaccia with a million different fixins. @pewpewbang from Common Market will be with us behind the bar fooling around with fernet and @griot_tasso will be running it back with the karaoke machine. Maybe rainy who gives af we’ll make it happen all cozy inside.
