May 24, 2026. 10 AM - 2 PM. Free Hong Kong-style mahjong, no classes, no lessons. We’ll have 3 tables, but will try to add more if we can fit them. No RSVPs. We’ll be in the Bamboo Lane alley between Full Moon House and Phoenix Bakery, next to the dumpster and the red door. It’s the @studious.work 3 year anniversary party! See you there!
🌱 Palabras Literary Salon is celebrating AANHPI Heritage Month featuring acclaimed writer Xuan Juliana Wang. Join us in LA Chinatown at Studious Collectivr on Saturday May 30, 3pm.
✨This event is a community building effort with a focus on a listening circle for intercultural + intergenerational conversation, including “breaking bread” with a light reception. We feature BIPOC-identified poets + writers, and the event is open to all attendees. The venue is on the ground floor and wheelchair accessible. We are family-friendly with content that is PG-13.
⚡️The theme lust can evoke yearning, confusion, and unrequited love. As a foodie, I have travelled long distance for that ethnic food craving. Or, perhaps, there is a song or poem that is associated with an obsession?
🌻Our guest reader circle for this month highlights AANHPI storytellers and LGBTQ+ representation. We are honored to have award-winning poets and writers as part of this circle, as well as emerging artists.
Guest readers:
Alex Cho, Jia-Rui Cook, Caleb Luna, M. E. Macuaga, genesis ripley, Abigail Handojo, Dakota Kim, José Enrique Medina, Mona Ghannoum, Mylo Lam, Pallavi Dhawan, and Jen Cheng
Please RSVP: bit.ly/may2026palabras

Thank you so much everyone who attended our Dharma Discovery Workshop! 🌞🌟🎉
We had a beautiful night talking about our Dharma Archetypes, our paths to dharma, and writing out our Dharma Blueprints. It was so inspiring to hear the different ways each person's purpose was shining through or wanted to shine through, from our nurturers and entertainers, to artists and warriors; whether it is through creating art, cultivating relationships, building beautiful homes, or through environmental projects. There is magic in hearing our visions out loud and sharing them with others. 💫💫
We raised $360 for our fundraiser for @sanad_palestine !
Thank you so much everyone! 🌟🍉

A glimpse at our recent Los Angeles deliveries. Packing, loading, and hand-delivering care packages to Elders living in and near Ktown, out through the San Gabriel Valley. Many of the Elders we reach in LA are living far from culturally rooted food and community, and a lot of them are unable to drive.
A Heart of Dinner care package is often the most consistent nourishment and connection they receive that week: the most vibrant joyful art at the door + filled with fresh greens, pantry essentials, and cooked dishes that feel like home + a handwritten note of love that brings comfort.
We reach Elders through independent outreach and relationships with care partners serving Elders in Asian American older adult communities in critical need, a shelter housing Elders we’ve been delivering to for some time, and referrals that grew out of our emergency response during last year’s wildfires. We also prepare our beloved care packages for our friends and partners at @foothillunitycenter to pick up and deliver to the most sensitive Elder cases in their own network.
So much love to our LA volunteer crew for making the West Coast operations possible @aimeeteegarden@mickyshiloah@eyorog@eddieliuwho@chadwickarmstrong , and longtime HOD advocates @natalie_lander@houseofchen@kaylaiw joining us on the grounds for the first time last week 💛

Americans throw away 5 disposable vapes every single second. 🚫 That’s 150 million a year — and over half end up in the trash.
Vapes contain lithium batteries, nicotine, lead, and mercury. In landfills they leach toxins into soil and water. In garbage trucks, batteries can catch fire.
There’s no easy way to recycle them — but there are places to drop them off safely.
