Fabulous Colour Workshop with @kuda.mushangi here at @livuniarch . Colour Theory, Colour therapy, Colour as a defining component , Colour creating spatial depth ,Colour in healing spaces ,Colour in Maggie’s Centres and domestic symbolism . A day with oils pastels chalks ,space reflection and discussion. Kuda led with examples and reference Lubiana Himid ,Pierre Bonnard ,David Hockney,Giorgio Morandi and Kuda’s own fantastic work - Kuda is a Tate Billboard artist ,Holy Art Gallery prize winner Ingham prize winner @glasshousecontemporary solo show and a practicing architect and @livuniarch @studiopenandinc ( formerly Studio3) and @livuniarch_march graduate . Fabulous for Kuda to be back teaching in our fantastic new spaces. Thankyou

Field trip! We had a little visit to Manchester on Friday (thankfully we got the best of the crisp winter sun rather than the finest drizzle!) to see a few examples of public realm at Kampus and Mayfield, material detailing and culture hubs at Home, to list a few. We also were very lucky to have some of Rachel at @fcbstudios time and heard all about the office’s portfolio and ethos. On top of this, we called in to see Tom at @commonpractice.studio for a tour of @seesawspace and all the details on what his office has been up to lately. Thank you so much both of you! It’s been a micro model sort of day in studio…pocket sized models of the cycle hubs helped to communicate initial massing studies on the site and a suggestion of materiality. Next step is to model at a larger scale and explore the threshold with the wider site. The second day of our ba3 Restorative Regeneration Workshop facilitated by Urban and landscape Designers Planit with Luke Fawcett was super enjoyable productive and generous . Students shared and discussed their emerging thoughts and early design principles following individual explorations with the regeneration tool introduced on Friday and street observations . Community survey responses and neighbour hood aspirations woven through research into local heritage and environment ,including close up studies of the wonderful red brick terraces of the lane ( and more )are forming emerging narratives and visions for a happy healthy and resilient future Penny Lane . 1. We’ve been put through our paces today in studio! @planitie came in for the day and hosted an urban design workshop using their Regenerative Design Tool - which encourages designers to consider a place and project from a whole-systems perspective, and maximise regenerative impact across a complete spectrum of sustainability dimensions. It’s been eye opening to understand how the drivers of a project can be tracked and interpreted through this tool. And in turn, it’s making us really interrogate our project brief and how we develop it individually as studio members. We’ll be posting more on this as it reverberates through our project responses, and interim review outputs soon! Yesterday we had the absolute pleasure of continuing our Studio explorations into Liveable Cities with an in person experience of some of Liverpools cycling infrastructure .Rides were expertly guided by @peloton_liverpool . With the help of Danny Paul and John and bikes supplied by @peloton_liverpool we made our way from @livuni campus based Bikiosk out to @livuni Greenbank Halls satellite Bikiosk via Kingsley Road ,Princes Boulevard ,Princes Park ,Sefton Park,Penny Lane and surrounds .Loads of social interactions and moments not possible by car and students able to engage first hand in issues of access ,use ability and safety . Explorations were supported by a fabulous lecture by Dr Alex Nurse ‘Pragmatic Cycling ,Policy +Provocation ‘ focussing on users and their different everyday needs , @lpoolcitycouncil LCC net zero Carbon 2030 action plan and @lpoolcitycouncil State of health in Liverpool 2040 report and some of the processes involved in enabling modal change . All brilliantly underpinning our Fragile Futures projects for Penny Lane and @lpoolcityregions active travel proposals .Thankyou @peloton_liverpool @livuni Alex Nurse !
