Presenting the next installation of -VIJILANT Spotlights- a biographical series that highlights the work, life, and inspiration of different artists and creatives. Meet Robin Davisson! Robin Davisson (@robindavissonart ) is a contemporary, abstract artist who runs a hybrid studio-gallery in upper Georgetown called StudioLab RD (@studiolab_rd ), where she seeks to cultivate an environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, and connections with the community. Trading in her nearly 3 decade long career as a molecular physiologist, Robin has a unique approach to art, stating that her, "artistic process is rooted in the interplay of [her] scientific background, the central role of curiosity, and critical thinking. Paint is infinite in its possibilities...In the lab, the goal is to repeat the exact same experiment over and over to get the truth. In the studio, it's the opposite. The experiment can only be carried out once and the truth can only be found in a singular and distinctive way." Small gestures that linger.✨ Last week, StudioLab RD @studiolab_rd was a stop on the first-ever Georgetown Chocolate Tour, and we loved adding our own layer with The Sweet Gesture Exchange. Guests opened handwritten missives, shared prompts with friends, and four Golden Missives were discovered — including an Art Party for four. ✨ Our heart balloon wall turned into a photo moment. Thomas Sweet’s fudge disappeared quickly. And the studio was filled with conversation and creative energy all day long. From our beloved 33rd Street studio-gallery to a newly reimagined home for StudioLab RD at 1670 Wisconsin Ave NW in Georgetown — every box, brush, and blossom found its place. Huge thanks to the incredible team who made it happen — the movers (Metropolitan Moving and Storage), Margaret and her amazing team (@margaretricheydesignsense ) who worked wonders with unpacking/organizing, Chris of @levelartservices who brought our signage (and spirit) to life at the new space, and Justin (@orchid_of_the_day ) who made the new space bloom with fresh flower boxes. 💛🌿. It’s more than a move — it’s a transformation.
