There is no single way to enjoy football. Playing, watching, wearing, reading, listening, collecting, eating, talking about it—each is part of the game, and each offers its own unique point of entry.
The theme of Issue 12 is “FUN.” For this issue, we spoke with people who engage with football in a wide variety of ways.
As anticipation builds for what will be the largest World Cup ever held, this issue also shines a light on the people supporting this global event behind the scenes. We hope you enjoy the interviews, which offer a closer look into the thinking and perspectives of those working at the forefront of the game.
At the same time, we revisit the relationship between football, fashion, and culture.
Starting May 27, it will be released progressively at bookstores, cafes, football shops, 4BFC, and the SHUKYU ONLINE MARKET in Japan and abroad. Pre-orders are currently available through our online store.
We will also be hosting a pop-up event at Isetan Shinjuku from June 3–9. The event will feature the latest issue of the magazine, special items, and jersey customization.
Having completed our 10th anniversary year, this event marks a new step toward the next decade of SHUKYU, so we hope you’ll look forward to it. More details will be announced here soon.

Blackware was published on the occasion of Studio Halftime’s release of Collection 001. The book documents Lev Rosenbush’s ceramic practice, drawing on ten years of material research and experimentation. Through edited anecdotes and process documentation, Blackware offers insight into the development of the collection. Designed by Noam Ballon of Azou Studio, the book interprets Rosenbush’s working process through form. Photography by Jesse Russell and film stills by Isiah Suko.

We usually bring you our classic monthly column featuring five brands to know, united by the intersection of football (or sport) and fashion. It’s a column that, beyond informing, tells the story of how the market is moving and how this industry is responding to what is no longer a trend: the fusion of sports aesthetics and fashion.
There are, however, two brands that are rewriting the rules of this relationship and perhaps showing us just how far it has come, now that it has become the norm: what if the future of the connection between football and fashion were no longer about translating obvious elements of football aesthetics (such as templates or team colors) but instead about reinterpreting details that often go unnoticed, making the intersection between these two spheres very “quiet”?
