1940s luxury meets 2026 functionality in this refined Denver, Colorado home. Studio D Design’s Danielle Wallinger drew from the home’s original Italian Renaissance Revival–style exterior to shape an interior that feels both ornate and intimate. “The relationship between architecture, art, and landscape feels intentional and serene,” she notes. just because it's not the main event doesn't mean it gets any less attention our secondary spaces are never forgotten - they give us the opportunity to think outside the box and a chance to experiment with a bold wallpaper, an unexpected color, or a more playful moment - all while maintaining the cohesive thread that runs through the entire home. project : grande dame

the primary bedroom is getting a redesign - and it's not about square footage anymore we're seeing a major shift in how these spaces are being approached + gone are the days of cavernous rooms that stray from feeling like a true sanctuary. today's bedrooms are more thoughtful, more intentional - where every corner earns its place, every detail holds purpose, and luxury finishes are carefully selected to do all the talking. less grandeur. more intention. project : grande dame

the family room is a comfortable, effortless atmosphere that contrasts with the more formal spaces in the home. open to the kitchen, it’s one of the few open-concept areas in the house, allowing the two spaces to function together as a true great room. the palette is anchored by the marble selected for the kitchen, which became the jumping-off point for the entire scheme, layering warm, earthy tones through the two spaces. project : grande dame

even in the kitchen , brass was a non-negotiable and with a home rich in material and detail, this space had to speak the same language. executing this element required careful planning and close collaboration with the builder, cabinetmaker, and metal fabricator. the result is a true showstopper - one that balances craftsmanship, performance, and undeniable presence. project : grande dame

a destination of its own - tucked into the lower level, this spa was designed with a single intention: to feel like you've left the house entirely. the moment you step in, the lighting does its job — dim, deliberate, and immediately calming. the amenities include a dry sauna, steam sauna with a horizontal shower, floating vanity, and a custom cedar bench that anchors the space with warmth. but what ties it all together is the large format porcelain, continuous throughout, wrapping every surface. project : grande dame

Chemistry, craftsmanship, and patience converge to transform material into something sculptural - an architectural moment that doesn’t just function, but captivates. Enter Charles - our resident mad scientist - meticulously developing a blackened bronze patina with a subtle striae. Through layers of oxidation and hand-applied treatments, the surface takes on a dimensional quality. The striations catch the light just enough, creating a quiet rhythm across the curve - a finish that feels alive. It’s a reminder that true artistry lives in the process.

a favorite color of the studio’s but make it high gloss, please. once a secondary den, this scullery came with its share of constraints - most notably a corner fireplace built into the structure of the home and impossible to move. now reimagined as a fully functioning second kitchen, utilizing every inch, the space feels seamless and unapologetically refined - with challenges nowhere in sight. high gloss cabinetry inset with antique mirror, green marble pulls, and a brass sink that insists on a second look. project : grande dame

a moment for the sofa - customized like a perfectly cut suit, this sofa balances structure and softness. the lustrous green mohair gives it depth and sheen, while the back-to-back form feels intentional and architectural - anchored by a mirrored sofa-back table that reflects it's surroundings. the long bolsters are secured by refined brass detailing, and the fringe base finishes the piece with movement, texture, and a final note of drama. project : grande dame

nearing the finish line. finishing touches are landing. light is pouring into spaces that once existed only in drawings. and soon - very soon - quatre saisons will no longer be just plans, renderings, site meetings and construction timelines. project : quatre saisons
