🫧 An ace up my sleeve, 2026 In a fraction of time, 2026 The sculpture «An Ace Up My Sleeve» belongs to the series «Nematographies» (Νηματογραφίες). The term «Nematography» is a neologism describing a new, imagined geography formed by the hand through thread. It suggests a systematic mapping of a hybrid landscape, urban, natural, corporeal, gendered, a new terrain shaped through revisitations and mental wanderings, guided by hands that substitute for the eyes. Often, the work records unspoken or semi-transparent observations and associations, forming a veil, a textile, or, following Hélène Cixous, a sext. In this particular case, the outline of the piece follows a sleeve pattern, further grounding the discourse by borrowing the language of garment construction. The installation «In a fraction of time» is a complex of four works exploring the relationship between the body, time, and the terrain. “Επιστήθιο αποστήθισης”, 2026 Επί του στήθους – καρδιακό – κόσμημα απομνημόνευσης: Φορέσιμο γλυπτό που επεξεργάζεται τη σχέση της καλής – ανάποδης πλευράς, του μπρος – πίσω ενός ενδύματος. Συγκεκριμένα, το πατρόν της πλάτης του ζακέτου, σχέδιο που ακολουθεί την ανατομία του μυϊκού συστήματος, αντιστρέφεται και δημιουργεί το σχήμα που καλύπτει, αλλά δεν κρύβει, το στήθος. Η εσωτερική πλευρά του γλυπτού, αυτή που ακουμπά στο δέρμα, επενδύεται με χρυσό, ένα υλικό πολύτιμο που, συνήθως, επιδεικνύουμε σε εμφανή σημεία. Γίνεται μια γλυπτική μεταγραφή εννοιών που σχετίζονται με την εγγύτητα, την αγάπη – κρατώ κοντά στο στήθος, στην τσέπη της καρδιάς μου – το κρυφό, το χάδι – όπως τα χέρια χαϊδεύουν τα υλικά καθώς πράττουν. Where thread becomes a tool for reading the landscape — interweaving layers of living space into an imaginary topography, where smells, stories, and human and inhuman interactions are transcribed. Part 1/3 This might be my favorite piece from the capsule collection called “Liquid EROS,” which I had the pleasure of co-creating with my beloved @2plus1equals2 , who invited me to collaborate with them. This capsule collection was specially made for Leros and the exhibition “All Become Islands Before My Senses,” curated by @perasmaistanbul , @burcufikretoglu , and @gizemnazkudunoglu . Now, still on this island, I’m convinced of its multilayered beauty and liquid identity. And as Heraclitus said, "You cannot step into the same river twice." Hint: The pattern of the piece is the layout of the island of Leros. Many thanks to @maryamturkey
