“Before the Garment, There Was a Body”
When you wear a garment, you inherit the imprint of another body. Every fold, every seam traces someone else. Even a custom piece begins before you, shaped by a body that came first. But what if the body itself became the origin? What if each body became its own garment?
That is precisely what we explored.
Women of different ages, shapes, and backgrounds enter a cocoon. Thread follows the curves of their bodies. First comes the imprint, then the details that make each one singular: freckles, scars, lines, tattoos.
Everything begins and ends with Mnemosyne. The body is captured in this exact moment, this exact shape in time. By nature, our forms are constantly changing, but like a photograph freezes light, the bodies are now preserved in fabric and thread.
For us, the Bacchae are voices of female liberation and identity, a modern Dionysian chorus.
