In 2008 a bunch of friends sat down in the RCA cafeteria to form Julia. After Hugo left in 2019, Erwan and Valerio carried on running the studio respectively from Paris and Rome. A couple of years ago they started to pursue different paths and today, it is finally time to officially close Julia.
👋
For about 14 years we worked hard, made many mistakes, had a lot of fun, and were lucky to meet some incredible people in every corner of the world. We are very proud of the work we have achieved, but even more so of the relationships we have created and managed to keep over the years, starting with our friendship. We are ever so grateful to all the people who trusted us and those who have helped us along the way.
😘
Our website will keep running for a bit, but for any enquiry you can get in touch with Valerio () and Erwan ().

Thank you all for following us. ❤️

In the United States, there are many cities called Rome, these photographs are the result of the photographer's journey through them, from Rome to Rome across the States. Fuelled by a curiosity for these parallel eternal cities, this work is a subtle mix of genres, where the American road trip meets the postcards of imperial Rome. Both have been overly photographed subjects, with their essence exhausted by representation: the allure of the American dream, and the never-ending fascination with the remnants of history.

From the archive: Limited edition of Lesconil, by @jean_jullien . Published by @nanzukaunderground
Lesconil is the first publication dedicated to Jean's paintings, published by @nanzukaunderground on the occasion of his 2019 solo show at the Tokyo-based gallery.
Organised by themes and locations, the catalogue features most of Jean's paintings at the time and provides some personal insights on his working methods.
Close-ups of some of the painting reveal stories within stories, and offer to appreciate the artist's touch.
The limited edition comes in a special screen-printed slipcase with a signed print.

Today in Zürich along with the presentation of Fog Friend Font, Hinrich plays a set of songs/music related to the project editorial framework. Over the last couple of years, we made a set of posters to go along with each event titled ‘FFF PLAYS’. The poster series has been selected for the poster collection of the HfG in Basel (Plakatsammlung der Schule für Gestaltung Basel).
Also tonight:
🔊 popular music and lyrics in the naturally bilingual Swiss minority language context of Rumantsh, presented by translator and publisher Mevina Puorger.
😍 informal text messaging, emoji design issues and poetics; aspects shared by designer and publisher Urs Lehni as details from the making-of of the Ear Mind Eye Pad (one of the books within FFF).
Can’t be there, but if you can:

If in Helsinki, today and tomorrow are the last days of ‘The Month of Books’ @publicsfi , a month-long program focusing on book-related artistic practices and other bookish things 📚
Time: Pages as minutes.
In Ore 12 Circa a minute lasts 8 pages.
The book starts at 11:50 and finishes at 12:08.
Flashbacks and loops shift the perceptions of reading, exploring the potential of an apparent linear narrative. @v.e.ii
Pages from Ore 12 Circa by @fabrizio_amoroso , a constructed narrative around a collection of anonymous negatives that the editor found in a flea market in Paris in 2010. The book proposes one of the many visual narrations of the displayed images, leaving to the viewer the space to envision and shape himself the hidden reality that may have connected–or may have not–all of these stranger's lives.

OUT NOW: Ore 12 Circa by @fabrizio_amoroso , which also marks the launch of Veii, a new publishing imprint based in Rome in which we are co-founders. More to come! @v.e.ii
