Introducing Team unTAG
unTAG, currently a family of 8 like minded creatives, is a Mumbai based design studio, which strongly believes in
climatic sensibility, contextual rooting, spatial functionality, material sensitivity and economic
viability as the core values of their practice.
We do not want to associate our practice with a particular design language,
rather we want our design to be dictated by the brief, budget, climate and context, hence
the name unTAG.
Heres a quick sneak peak into the diverse projects that we have been working on. Each one of them has a beautiful story to tell and a unique experience to give.
We are super excited to share these with you!

From banyan-shade classrooms to climate-responsive campuses, rural education in India is undergoing a powerful transformation. Brick by Brick traces how thoughtful architecture, progressive policies, and community participation are reshaping learning environments with dignity at their core. Over the past decade, improvements in infrastructure, digital access, and health facilities signal meaningful progress, yet gaps remain. Schools today are evolving into inclusive, flexible, and resilient spaces, crafted with local materials and collective effort. More than buildings, they are instruments of equity. When design prioritizes comfort, safety, and inspiration, it sends a powerful message to every child: your future matters.

Thankyou @thearchitectsdiaryin for this beautiful feature called SHARED - Name & Power, in your latest print edition Shakti 50.
It's beautifully written by Yamini Patil. What a opening sentence - Equality in the firm isn't declared. It is where equality is practiced.

Flood Affected School at Kelthan Village by unTAG Architecture and Interiors
Saraswati Vidyalaya is a highly cost-effective rural government school located on the banks of the Tansa River in Kelthan, a tribal village in Palghar, Maharashtra. The school serves 180 students from grades 8 to 10. In 2019, severe flooding partially submerged the campus, causing extensive damage to its infrastructure and rendering the premises unsafe for students and teachers.
The effort to rebuild began in 2020 under the initiative *Rebuilding Resilience*, when architects, in collaboration with a local NGO, stepped in to support the schoolβs recovery. The rebuilding process was designed to be participatory, involving teachers and students in shaping the future of their learning environment. To ensure that education could continue uninterrupted and to allow time for fundraising, the reconstruction was planned in two phases, enabling regular classes to proceed alongside the construction work.

Villa Prakriti by unTAG Architecture and Interiors
Prakriti, a Sanskrit word meaning βMother Nature,β is a serene four-bedroom, 4,500 sq.ft. biophilic farmhouse nestled in the rolling folds of Indiaβs Sahyadri mountains, overlooking the tranquil waters of Mukhane Dam. This home celebrates the profound connection between humans and nature, seeking not to replicate it, but to live in harmony with its principlesβadaptive, generative, rooted, and generous.
Prakriti is never meant to be a spectacle; it quietly participates in the landscape, blending seamlessly with its surroundings. Every aspect of the homeβits form, materials, orientation, and spatial flowβresponds to the natural setting, allowing the dwelling to breathe with the environment rather than impose upon it.
Here, architecture listens before it speaks. The home emerges as a discovery within the forested sanctuary rather than a construction imposed upon it. Prakriti embodies architecture in its most elemental form: a practice of listening, inhabiting, coexisting, and evolving alongside nature.
