2024 highlights ⚡️ One of our memorable experiences amongst many for 2024 was Walkie Talkie - studioMADE partnered with LUX and Theatr Twm O’r Nant to present twilight screenings from the Carriageworks and a day long silent moving image screenings at the theatre. This included films and discussions from LUX Wales Critical Forum artists alongside a curation of films from the Lux archive selected by Kim Knowles. To conclude Guy Sherwin presented Man with Mirror. We’re still reflecting on these momentous experiences. We’d like to thank all the artists that took part, along with those who helped the event be the memorable day it was, both through their support and attendance. studioMADE welcomes Lauren Heckler as artist in residence from 5th - 15th September 2023 Lauren Heckler (b.1992) is an interdisciplinary artist from Wales working across performance, lens based media and sculptural intervention. Lauren will be asking questions such as "what is my relationship with nature now that I live artificially? And, does my body's Bluetooth connection with my phone twin me with my speaker?". Next up for our Pollinator Residencies: Nina Alimoslechner Nina Maria Allmoslechner is a London and Tyrol-based artist mainly working with analogue photography, super 8mm, 16mm film and writing, who graduated in Documentary Photography BA from the University of Arts London. Her work involves alternative darkroom printing as well as the family archive. Nina’s practice is predominantly concerned with topics around mental health, womanhood, lens-based memory representation and the natural earth. Next up for our Pollinator Residencies: Lily-Tiger T Wells Lily Tiger is an artist and filmmaker based in West Wales. Her work is a research driven exploration of places and people, using expanded documentary practices as a vessel to engage with archives, everyday stories and local environments. Working across installation, photography, sound and analogue filmmaking, she has a particular curiosity in cultural heritage, folk traditions and ecological practices. Their recent 16mm documentary follows the story of Penrhos cottage in Pembrokeshire—a place built on the tradition that if a house was raised on common land overnight with smoke rising by dawn, it could be claimed as a home. During their week in Denbigh, the duo will expand their research into: The Land Enclosure Acts in Wales, Women’s property rights and rural resistance and the “quietly unusual” lives of the sisters who last lived at Penrhos ✨ “We’re excited to be spending a week in Denbigh, diving back into this project, consolidating our research into the film’s wider contexts... and seeing what might come next!” 🗓 Dates: 13–17 April 2026 📍 Location: StudioMADE, Denbigh
