WE ARE OVER THE MOON to announce the premiere of Tŷ Unnos at this year’s Sheffield DocFest
It is said that Penrhos cottage was built in one night.
According to Welsh folklore, if you could build a house overnight on common land, with smoke rising from the chimney by dawn, the place would be yours to keep.
Tŷ Unnos is a fairytale documentary told through the eyes of the children who once visited. Recounting memories of Penrhos and the legacy of its last owners, the past flickers back to life.
Created by @ninamariallmoslechner and me @lilbobagginz

Dydd Gwyl Dewi hapus!!!🏴
Very excited to share that I made a film (with the help of lovely friends and family.)
She Sells Shellfish / Molysgiaid a Menywod y Môr is a short doc shot on super 8mm, connecting two Welsh women’s lives with those of the archived past. A curious exploration of the female cockle gatherers of South Wales, and the surprising secret shellfish and seaweed hold for our oceans’ health.
Wedi’i saethu ar ffilm super 8mm, dyma cyfuniad o fywydau dwy Gymraes gyda fenywod o’r gorffennol archifol. Molysgiaid a Menywod y Mor yw archwiliad chwilfrydig o’r gasglwyr cocos De Cymru, a’r gobaith syfrdanol mae gwymon a physgod cregyn yn peri am iechyd ein moroedd.
It’s got its premier on the 28th of March in Aberystwyth Arts Centre (info in bio) and then will do a spin around Cymruuuuu🏴
Commissioned by WOW Film Festival as part of Bangladesh-Cymru Climate stories, a partnership with Dhaka DocLab funded by the British Council’s International Collaborations Grants.
By far the longest project I’ve ever worked on. Would be suuuper lovely to see some friendly faces there🌝

Our Portraits of Master Thatcher, Alan - are currently part of a group show @orielcarn alongside some handmade wheat twine made by Alan himself 🌾 🏡
We couldn’t be more grateful for our residency @studio.made with the support of @orielcarn - a residency that allowed us to dive into the wider research of our @thedocsociety film Tŷ unnos (A House in One Night). As you can see we tried building our own in the studio!
Very exciting film updates are coming this week, so keep your eyes peeled 👁️✨

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi hapus!!!🏴
Cyffrous i ddechrau rhannu ffotograffau hudol BTS o’n ffilm fer Tŷ Unnos. Dogfen hybrid chwedlig wedi’i saethu ar ffilm 16mm yn y Bryniau Preseli haf diwethaf.
Dywedir bod bwthyn Penrhos wedi’i adeiladu mewn un noson yn unig. O dan ei do gwellt, yw’r chwedl o ddwy fenyw anarferol, oedd yn annwyl i bentref cyfan.
Edrychwn ymlaen at rannu mwy o newyddion yn fuan…

Happy St David’s Day!!!🏴
We’re excited to start sharing the magical BTS photographs from our short film Tŷ Unnos (House in One Night). A hybrid fairytale documentary shot on 16mm film in the Preseli Hills last summer.
“It is said that Penrhos cottage was built in just one night. Beneath its thatched roof is the story of two quietly radical women beloved by an entire village.”
Looking forwards to sharing more news soon…

I was delighted when asked to consult on the Artist in Residency process with the Herbarium team @walesbotanic
They had been awarded lottery funding for the herbarium with an amount for an artist to do a residency at the gardens. On my first visit to meet the team we talked in depth about what a residency could look like, and what outcome may be expected from the artist that would be granted the position. That day El James walked me over to the Meadow Project which was wonderful to behold.
The brief was set and the applications came in.
I sat in on the interview process with the shortlist of very impressive candidates. All were worthy of the placement, each had worked hard on their applications and had fantastic ideas to be realised. A printmaker, a natural dye textile artist, an architectural practice, two film makers. So diverse it was hard to compare.
Lily Tiger stood out for her warm engaging nature and the enthusiasm that we saw in past projects. The final outcome was a film made on the Meadow Project at the gardens, it was beautifully shot and thought provoking. It included paper made with the meadow harvest, which in turn was embossed over clay sculpted into meadow flowers. It was also great to hear that Lily’s time at the gardens also inspired the @stitchingbotanicalwales to engage with the herbarium for their inspiration.
Lily Tiger reclaimed the out of use gallery space for the show/ presentation.
We will be framing one of the pieces to continue the story at Studio Cennen next month for Lore Of The Leaves

Bydd y darn sain ar lein yn fuan! - I’ll share the audio piece online sooon 🌙
Diolch ! @heritagefunduk@botanise_n_digitise + every single one of the gardens team🫡

Ein ail artist i arddangos yn ffenestr y Piazza o’n Galwad Agored. Mae cerflunwaith gwydr-lliw Lily yn darn ganolig i astudiaeth lygredd mewn afonydd yng Nghymru. Mae’r tonau porffor a pinc yn y darn yma yn ymateb i lefelau o nitradau a ffosffadau sydd yn bresennol mewn dŵr; y mwyaf tywyll y dŵr y mwyaf yw’r llygredd, sy’n codi rhybudd iechyd ein hafonydd a moroedd.

Our second artist to showcase in the Piazza window from our Open Call. Lily’s stained-glass sculpture is the centrepiece of a study of pollution levels in rivers across Wales. Shades of purple and pink in this piece corresponds to levels of nitrates and phosphates present in fresh water; the darker the shade, the greater the pollution, raising a stark warning on the diminishing health of our rivers and seas.

Helooo come see the things I’ve been up to ! 🌱
Installation by Lily Tiger, artist in residence on the project Plants: Past, Present, Future, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Dynamic Collections Initiative.
Over recent months, Lily has been exploring meadows and the practice of haymaking as a traditional yet increasingly dwindling aspect of agriculture. Working with the remnants of this year’s meadow cut, the installation looks at the importance of human management in supporting biodiversity.

Gosodwaith gan Lily Tiger, artist mewn preswyl ar y prosiect Planhigion: Gorffennol, Presennol, Dyfodol gyda chefnogaeth Gronfa Dreftadaeth y Loteri Genedlaethol - Menter Casgliadau Dynamig.
Dros y misoedd diwethaf, mae Lily wedi bod yn archwilio’r gweirgloddiau a’r ymarfer o greu gwair fel elfen draddodiadol ond cynyddol-prin o amaethyddiaeth. Gan weithio gyda’r gwastraff o doriad gwair eleni, mae’r gosodwaith yn sylwi ar bwysigrwydd ymyriad dynol wrth gynnal bioamrywiaeth.
Preswyl yn y gerddi yn dod i ben! haf arbennig yn archwilio’r ddolau glaswellt 🌱
