La lampe de table Canto exploite les propriétés uniques du cuir moulé à l’état humide pour créer des volumes rigides à partir d’une surface initialement souple. Un matériau bidimensionnel acquiert une troisième dimension à mesure que la géométrie s’imprime dans le cuir. Dans cet échange de qualités matérielles, le cuir troque une part de sa douceur contre une affirmation de forme. L’abat-jour repose sur une base usinée, opposant son caractère malléable à la précision des pièces fabriquées.

The Canto Table Lamp leverages the unique properties of wet molded leather to create rigid volumes from an originally pliable surface. A two dimensional material gains a third as geometry is pressed into the leather. Engaging in a transaction of material qualities, the leather trades some of its tenderness for a confidence in form. The shade balances on top of a machined base contrasting its impressionability with the certainty of precision made parts.
